he may, but it comes across as being a bumbling idiot that makes it look like there's no danger is anything he's doing.

That's kind of his style, and if you're a fan of his, you might know that - but to the casual observer and out of context of the rest of his stuff, it really does seem just plane stupid.

Kinda like watching "Ask a Ninja" for the first time... does he really love killing people that much? No of course not, it's a joke... but still...

Not a heli, but I think it takes the cake as one of the stupidest things I've ever seen an RC pilot do.

As the late George Carlin would say. That's a near hit! A collision is a near miss.

...

Boom... Look they nearly missed.

Yup, but not quite!

Here's a near hit:

http://aa.nps.edu/~jones/Near_hit.wmv

The video is from a FlyCamOne on my Trex 500. I tried to follow a friend's Composite ARF Yak, but couldn't keep up for long, so we both just had fun flying. Things got interesting at about 2:06. You can actually hear his DA-100 over the Trex 500 motor, even though the mic on the camera is about 2 inches from the motor. We never knew there was a close call, as the large size difference makes them look far apart even if they are not. That could have been a very expensive flight for the both of us, although i suspect he might have had a chance to get the Yak down.

My vote is for the idiot flying the Raptor 90 in the living room and they people sitting on the couches are just as stupid for sitting there. Hopefully that guy flying the heli won't breed.

Technically, he can still win the Darwin award after breeding if his stupidity (and theirs) kills them all.

at :40 he loses control and snatches it out of the air. i find it amazing how people can spin up a brushles cp heli and NOT realize that if it hits them, there are probably headed to the ER.

Gotta give the old guy credit for really fast reflexes though. I wonder if he was just protecting himself with that hand and instinctively grabbed it when he saw the skids? I suspect he's maybe an old hand with RC but new to helis. What he did was very risky, but I've seen worse. Who knows, he might have been a tank loader in Korea or something a lot more treacherous.

Something tells me he didn't quite realize how much this toy can hurt! Glad he didn't find out in this vid. That was a nice catch though.
