Default Stationary flight

This is so off topic-but. The hummingbirds showed up today. Back yard and I heard not head speed but wing beats per minute. Ruby Throated perfect hovering things arrived looking for food. Sugar and bugs- I bet they pull 45% pitch or more during hover. Onboard gyros. Gods perfect flying thing. Aves. MCX on steroids. We all only wanted to fly because we see the birds do it. Ask Wilbur or Orville. Stupid hummingbirds.I'm mixing up some sugar water.

I picked my avatar after watching those little buggers effortlessly doing what I was awkwardly try to accomplish. Haven't seen them go inverted though and not too many piro flips, but i bet they could if pressed hard enough.

Our hummingbirds haven't shown yet. Maybe I'm on the wrong side of the Mason Dixon line.

Weather is still nice out here - which means the birds are still around. Won't be long before they all fly away and are gone until next winter...

I've seen one so far this year and that was several days ago, right after I put the feeders out.

Hummingbirds can fly inverted. They can do loops and rolls.

The hummingbirds love our house. We keep 3-4 feeders on the front porch. Usually they're not here until around Apr 27th. We usually don't put the feeders out until about now but it's been a warm winter and we had a couple nice weeks of weather so for the heck of it we put them out last Saturday and already had one show up Monday.

Based on the migration schedules I see on the 'net - they seem a bit behind schedule this year. By now we've usually seen them leave:

Kind of fun to hear from those who see them after they leave here.

I’m think they are the only birds that can fly backwards also, cool little things.
