I too had to go with a smaller servo horn. This after I ordered bright shiny metal ones. LOL.
My set up is almost identical to rcflyerheli's.

Strat, I tried those Futaba horns, but just was not happy with the numbers. As I recall, those distances are about 12mm from center, and I just could not get good numbers on my collective and cyclic. The JR setup worked for me, but as it might not be available, those Futabas are the best you can do.

Has the Trex 600 nitro DFC been discontinued?
I have an older Trex 600 nitro (flybar) that I am thinking about converting to a DFC. I guess there is no kit for the upgrade?

This is great info, especially since some time down the road I'm planning to install this heli in a scale fuselage. This way I can adjust the main rotor height by a centimeter, depending on what exact heli model I decide on!
Do you happen to have a link for those longer main linkages?
I know it has been awhile since then. But can you tell how did you finally convert your TRex 600 CF? Did you get the non-DFC rotor head and from where? Which main shaft and linkages length you used? Did you keep the original swash plate / did you need to modify the swash?

Thanks for any hints. I am about to convert my 600 CF, also for a scale heli.

I got a non-DFC head from someone here on HF through the classifieds. I have to admit that it never flew that great until I got rid of the bell cranks. With the bell cranks, I needed an 11mm servo horn to make the BeastX happy (blue light at 6 degrees), and there was quite some slop in the system. Once I went direct to swash, using (I believe) 19mm servo horns, it flew fantastic. I used the stock main shaft (201mm, with third bearing block). The linkage rods I got from a friend who just happened to have the right size laying around.
The machine got since converted to a 3-blade head for a scale project.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

How did you get rid of he bell cranks, and go direct to swash? any pictures?

Did you use the same swash plate (when still 2 blades)?

If you look at your helicopter long enough, you will notice that a ~20mm servo arm ends up pretty much right underneath the linkage ball on the swash. That is true for all three servos. I don't remember whether I needed different length rods from the servos to the swash - probably not.
There may be some pictures in my build threat in the "<790mm" scale section here on HF. Those show the situation with the 3-blade head, but with the 2-blade head and without fuselage things were even easier.
