Hello,
I currently run OS 50 hypers but I'm looking for a bit more power. I just need something I can tune and put flight after flight on it with consistent results. Choices seem to have narrowed down to a ys56 or a os55hz-r. I think I prefer the ys56 as the power between that and the 55 is similar but the ys is cheaper to buy and cheaper spares. I've seen plenty older threads comparing the engines, but not the regulated version of the 55. I'm aware a ys60 will be out soon but the price on that and matching pipe will be alot more than what I want to spend. Any advice would be good. Thanks, Dave |

I can tell you that the os55hzr is the most consistent and easy to tune. IMO it has as much or more power than the ys. The ys is harder to tune and it is either one click rich or one click lean compared to 2-3 clicks on the OS, which leaves a bigger window of power.
I recently went from the os55 unreg to the reg and it is amazing the difference(about 20% more power) I didnt like the ys mostly bc i was always tuning <it seemed> and i didnt get the satisfaction i get from the OS.

YS engines are not hard to tune, and they are forgiving.
But I vote the YS 56SR I went to it form a os55 man this thing is a powerhouse!

Went for the 56 in the end. On the pipe is it ok just to put a screw in where the pressure nipple would have went with muffler pressure systems?

Or instead of waiting for the 60 wait for it to release and all the 56's drop

Not too worried about the 60 coming and and prices dropping as I got it used. I did think about a TT56 but there just seems hardly anyone flying them.
