Default Protection for Newbie Foam Wings.

I fly a quad but wanted to also have the experience of flying planes. I purchased a new Apprentice S15e by E-Flite. I have flown a few times and really like the airplane and I don't mind having the 3 flight modes - is a bit of a pain when I am using a DX6 and trying to work with a trainer who has a DX7 doesn't work well. The setting don't hold from transmitter to transmitter. I am past that now, flying on my own.

One thing I noticed on foamie a/c is that they will get runway rash on the wing tips when a newbie flys them and I am trying a new product that is supposed to help. It is called Foam Armour by Deluxe. Has anyone tried this compound?

I am just adding it to the wing tips and edge of the with tip to help stop the minor runway rash. Will let you know if it works for me or not. Very easy to apply, reminds me of Elmer's glue in fact. Appears to dry to a "plastic like" coating, supposed to be able to paint it or apply decals on top - but not needed for either based on where I have used it.

Anyway, love the plane as my first one.

I use the Foam Armour as well.

But there are some paints that will not go over the Foam Armour. As I found to my cost !

I've had to repair my Spitfire and when I went to paint it .... The Sea Gray Tamiya arcylic xf54 would not go on top on the Foam Armour, it just turned clear ??

If you "ding" your wings or have a hole to fill then use the Wonderfill, its pretty good , but can be a pain to apply, it just seems to be too dry to adhere properly sometimes. But a good product none the less.

Nigel, thank you for the reply. I saw your other thread and if I do ding my wing then I am going to try the Wonderfill. Appreciate the response. David
