Question What breaks on the converted FBL head?

Hey guys, I snagged a FBL conversion kit on the 'bay for $5 a while back. My backup bird is nearly complete, but instead of throwing a FB head on, i thought id take a crack at FBL (system undecided as of yet, thinking AR7200BX, after some fellow freaks do the beta testing for spektrum)

So the question: The Stock FBL head is a little bit funky, one sided driver i think. But what breaks in crashes? I have no spares for the FBL specific components, and would like to have a stockpile if i can find them (have i mentioned i like spares?)

I added up the cost of the separate items on HD, and its $10 cheaper to buy it all separate than the conversion kit again (?). It looks like i couldnt use the center hub from an FB head, but i dont see that breaking often. Links are easy to come by from other brands (i think?) so that leaves the the little carbon bit, the driver base and the radius arm that are pretty "unique". Advice from the field on what holds up and what doesn't?

So far honestly I havent broken a single thing on my FBL, not even a bent feathering shaft and I've crashed it plenty of time. I've replaced 5 sets of blades already too. The only thing I could think of is getting dampers and stainless bearings (high ABEC ratings). Thats about it.

The whole head is very solid. I have broken one of the balls off of the blade grips.

wow good to know. That little carbon peice looks fragile, but Ill take the field experience!
I got it all together last night. Head looks good, but when i hold it up by the grips the main gear moves up enough to hit the frames...looks like i have some more fiddling to do.

Thanks guys!

Dont' waste your money on the swashplate drive (http://helidirect.com/g580cfl-gd-g5-...ve-p-21180.hdx) it useless and get rid of the radius arm and swash drive lever (http://helidirect.com/rg50880cfl-04-...er-p-11135.hdx) it causes vibration. Get this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Align-T-Rex-...item41613d1038) and this (http://helidirect.com/xtreme-titaniu...g-2-p-6360.hdx)

I have to be honest with you I dont agree with this. I have the sk720 which is very sensitive to vibrations and my levels are very low when It comes down to vibrations. I have been using the single swash driver for a while with no issues.

well you could try a little test. take the complete head off and leave the swash diver and lever on. go from low rpm to mid rpm and record the vib level on the sk720 and remember the vib while holding it. do the same with the swash driver and lever off to compare. I'm running sk720 too and my vib level with the heli is ultra low comparing to what i've read on here.

There was one time with the FBL's head that there must have been some milling issues because my blade grips had some up and down slop with regards to the radial bearing. I know that created some vibes. After I broke one of my blade grips, when I got the new set there was no play at all.
