Default Step G question

I am setup up the AR7200BX on my 450 pro. I got to step J and realized that I don't have 0 pitch at center stick. I forgot to adjust the links from the swashplate to the blade grips. I set them at 33mm like the manual says but it looks like they will be more like 30 mm. This should be fine as long as I get 0 pitch. The swash is level. I used a trueblood leveler.

What head are you using? If you're using a DFC head, I'd adjust servo to swash link length with the servos at 90 until you get zero pitch, then I'd go back and level the swash and recheck. If you're using a head with integrated swash drivers, adjust links until the swash driver arms are perpendicular to the main shaft (servos at 90), then level the swash with the servos at 90 and recheck. All steps above in Step G of the setup menu. For zero pitch, stay in step G and after you have leveled the swash, adjust zero pitch with the links from the swash to the grips.

I don't have the DFC head. It is the Align 3g head. I have everything at 90 so i'll adjust the length. On the links that go to the grip. Thanks Scott

Since when was the link length actually correct in an Align manual.

Only kidding, it was okay on my 550. I used the measurements from the book, confirmed precisely with my vernier, and having 90'd my servos in G, I ended up with a level swash, 0 on the baldes, and perfect tracking, right off the bat. Was quite impressed with that. Also, having achieved this, I couldn't believe how far the links were screwed in for the standard measurements, for both the long and the short links. Very secure, but left little in terms of adjustment, if any of them had needed to go shorter. Good job it was correct.

To confirm though, go for it, if they need to be a little shorter you should be okay. Sometimes though coming down as much as 3mm can move you a little too far off centre on the movement range for the swash on the mainshaft, so watch out for that. Try to use a little from the short links, and a little from the long links, so the swash doesn't move down too much. Always with an eye to making sure that you have enough thread into the links so that they are very secure.

Cheers

Sutty

LOL Sutty! I've built five Align helicopters and only once were the link lengths right...on the 550V2 (my friend's, I was showing him how to build helicopters) but check this....I had to cut the links down a little to get the right length. It was probably the first v2 550 fbl in the US, so I attribute the link size problem to that.

Well i shorten the links down to 30mm. Everything is still level and centered. Best of all i have 0 pitch. Now i can move on. Hopefully with no other questions.
