Msr value and reliability?

Hey everyone!

Been flyin for about 4 months currently fly an sr and blade 400 skills are in the range of being capable of a stable hover all day with some side orientation hover and starting to do higher speed flight with half turns and spins and things.
Found a bnf msr used for $35 should I go for it?

So the main question is how reliable is the little msr? How does everyone think it flies compared to the cx and 120sr?
Is it fun and exciting everytime or is it more like so easy its boring?
Look forward to everyones opinions!

It flys almost exactly like the 120 sr but smaller, I love mine for flying in the house and if there isn't any wind it's a blast outside too.
I cut 2mm off the end of my blades and it did make it usable in low winds.

If you don't want it for $35 I will take it

So is an msr semi self stabilizing? Or is it a mix between a cx and cp? Im just confused what to expect and how fun it is. And its reliability since i have never owned one

It's got a flybar so it is pretty stable, not like a coaxial but pretty close.

I bang mine off walls and dining room chairs all the time and it holds up pretty good, the only time I really broke any thing was full speed into a steel trailer..lol

Replacing the tiny screws that hold the blades to the grips with the slightly larger screw that holds the grips together makes it even tougher.

Way faster and more maneuverable than a coaxial too.

I have such a blast with mine I built another. The mSr is very durable but not indestructible. Parts are cheap and still available.

The 120SR is an "enlarged" mSR.

At $35 a Syma S107 Isnt much less... GO FOR IT!

I love my MSR.. I would guess other than the weight difference it should fly exactly like your SR

It is a Fixed Pitched heli, it is an excellent heli once you master it.

I paid $20.00 for mine and I don't much like it. For what I paid for mine or for the $35.00 you are considering I think it is worth buying just to see.

I think mine was way out of adjustment and it was a month before i got it flying without full trim or a lot of stick correction for hover. (It is in like new condition I think because two owners and one hobby store gave up on it before I bought it) OK, no problem. I took it outside in almost no wind and it put a smile on my face as i saw how quick it could zip around. Then when I opened it up all the way and above some speed it gave up flying and fluttered nose first into the ground i decided i did not like it.

I think I was spoiled by the mCPx already when I first came across the msr.

Regardless, you just cannot go wrong for $35.00.

I have very high expectations for an mqx I ordered that is expected sometime next week. I'm thinking the mqx can probably replace all the blade coaxial and FP helicopters in one bird.

A sports car with two flat tires will also perform poorly, and will crash when you try to drive it fast.

At that price you can't go too far wrong but I will say that the mSR X is a much better flyer.

This........and so much this with the MSR.

I love the thing, but I essentially have to tune it after every bad crash. Not like m 120 SR or MSRX, which both are more like the Energizer bunny. However, since I have a small house, it's great for running around inside, up and down the stairs, etc.

Keep in mind that in manycases you are buying someone elses' problem when you purchase on ebay, etc. I also ended up buying a parts bird for the inevitable repairs.

Will keep it going as there still seems to be a lot of parts for it out there.

I bought mine second hand for €80 RTF with the 4CH
So far after a year the only things I have replaced are:-

Batteries - Worn out after too many recharges
Blade grips.... first flight indoors and hit the wall HARD
Landing gear - got caught in a bush and broke it trying to get the heli untangled from the bush.
TX - only because I had a JR TX for my other helis.
Tail motor (replaced with MCPx unit)

I also have an MCPx, Align 250, HK 450 + 500 and a Kyosho caliber 3 nitro and I would say that I find the MSR the most enjoyable and relaxing to fly, both indoors and outside

I had got a 9958 as my first FP heli last month and found it to be kind of challenging to fly well with the stock controller. I didn't have any other point of reference and so wasn't sure if I was just doing it wrong or if there were quirks in this heli that I would have to learn to overcome. I was fortunate enough to find a refurbished MSR on sale soon after and started flying that with my DX6i. I found it to be an amazing experience and once I had set it up properly with my TX, it got even better. After flying that helicopter exclusively for a few weeks I got a Turnigy 9x and started on my 9958 again. With the MSR experience under my belt, it was a LOT easier and I started having a lot more fun with it.

Since I was coming from S107Gs and MCX2s, the MSR was a fantastic transition into non-coaxials for me. Yes, it's got its weird little pendulum wobbles because it's supposed to be self-stabilizing but I've quickly learned to get past that and take advantage of it (do a quick 180 and blast back the way you came)!

So, take it for what you will, but finding a cheap MSR like that (which hopefully flies well!!!) would be a great thing to pick up, IMHO.

No the entire tail boom, motor, mount and baldes from an MCPx
