Default Piro rate question

Hi All

My tail seemed to have a bit of a wag. Only after the rudder movement had stopped, it wagged a few times then stopped. It never did it before, so started to get a little irritating. It doesn't wag in the hover or in normal flight. Just after a rudder input.

Anyway, my gyro is setup as per the advice from the forum. Using the gear channel on my remote, I've set my end points to +60 and -60. I have a JR 9xII radio.

I lowered the positive side down to +50, which is what I thought I had to do for the slight wag. Anyway, the wag is still there but my piro rate to the right is absolutely insane! If I hold full right rudder, it piro's so fast the heli is a blur. Kinda cool actually. To the left is still slowish as normal.

Anyway, my questions are:

1) How do I stop the wag after stick inputs?
2) Is it bad for the heli to piro so fast. Will the belt break easier or anything?
30 If it isn't bad for the heli, how do I get the left piro the same? Ha.

Actually like the fast piro rate but just a bit worried.

Thanking you in advance

Neil

You have to trial and error the rotate rate LED. Got to find which setting works best, fastest isn't always best (i have the 2nd slowest LED for my 3400G). If the piro rate isn't consistent in both directions thats a sign your mechanical setup is flawed. make sure you have NO drift when out of HH mode with no gain at the HS your gonna fly at.

The rotate rate setting is just below the servo speed setting. Not 100% what it does.

I thought the endpoint settings for the rudder adjusted the piro rate... are you talking about a setting on the gyro or in the tx, HFG?

They are apparently talking about the Logictech 2100T gyro, even though he doesn't state what gyro he has. This is a setting unique to that gyro, it's not on the 401...

I have the G401 and I noticed that it was not running in HH mode (solid red led) when not giving rudder input, It was running in standard rate mode, I had everything setup correctly, running 72-80% on the DX7. The problem was caused by adding a notch or two on the rudder trim, as soon as it took of the trim the gyro went into HH.. I do get tail wag when I set the DX7 over 80%..

Sorry folks, i had a bunch of threads open and i mixed this one up with the 2100T one. Wagging isn't a normal problem with a 401 (it is on the 2100T which added to my mistake) but you might want to check the mechanical slider, if it doesn't move smoothly you will get a wag after some rudder input.

I totally confused now.

Does the end points on the gear channel adjust the gain or the piro speed?

But I adjusted the end point on my gear channel thinking I was adjusting gain, and all it did was make the right piro unbelievably fast.

Someone please clarify this.
