Default What Headspeed do you fly your 600 at?

I've seen everything from 1800 to 2500, but I don't have a real good feel for what "normal" is. Also tell us what kind of flying you do.

I'm currently running 2200 rpm, but thinking about bumping it up to 2250. If I'm honest, I'm only a sport flyer.

I only have a handful of flights on my new(to me) Chaos 600 (and my first 600) so I'm still figuring things out...but I'm running 1600 to 2000 right now.
I just "fly around", won't even call it sport.

Running 12s, 510kv motor, kde 115t main,12t pinion, controlled by GV8000, Hobbywing 100a esc, CC Pro bec. Turnigy 3k batts, 20,40c varieties.

At 1600 she is very quiet, relaxing...I'm enjoying her more each time I put her in the air.

Trex 600 Pro DFC with the mod .6 black torque tube drive gears (4.5:1 gear ratio).

I fly 1700 Norm, 2000 FS1 and 2150 FS2.
I can fly over 10 min at 1700 and practice all the basics
But, most flights I take off at 1700 then switch to 2000. This get me 6 min.

Whether it be the 12s or 6s version... everyone I know with a 600 flies it at about 2500 rpm. I fly my 600L at 2400 rpm governed and feel its perfect. I'm not a headspeed crackhead either. I fly my 450L at 3100 governed. Both of these helicopters feel identical to scale in the air at these rpms.

Same float and ease of flight.

When Align recommended to fly it at 2400 rpm. They meant it. I don't trust it nor like below that. Not just because the tail gets loose, but because it feels heavy and the disc is floppy. But it flies like a work of art at 2400-2500. Its poetry in motion.

Lastly, the Castle governor only starts to work well at 2400 rpm. Before then, 750mx has problems over powering, surging and yanking the tail.

I've got my 600 set up for slightly lower headspeed, stretched boom and running 623 mains and 105mm tails. I'm not 100% sure what my headspeed is to be honest, the exact number doesn't really seem important. I just adjust until it feels about right (using YGE 'gov store' rather than Caste 'set RPM').

I'd guess I'm around the 2000-2100 mark.. It's got tons of punch at this headspeed with the bigger blades, more than I need for my flying style ('big air' aerobatics etc) and I still easily get 6 minutes out of 2700mAh batteries.

I'm now running 2250 on my 600, and it feels great. It's got all the punch I need, and I can fly for 5 min on my 3300mah packs.

I have been running at the 2250 ..... BUT mine feels slow in the air.
I just haven't been able to get punch out of the 600MX on 12s and the cyclic feels soft. I'm still moving the rates up in the Robird G31, I'm sure I'll hit a sweet spot if I keep slowly moving up the settings.

Oh and I'm running the faster tail ratio......so didn't really want to go over 2300 RPM HS

I'm running my 600DFC at 2400. CC 80, 700mx, with the performance booster kit.
Just mounted on a set of Zeal main and tail blades works like a charm. Feels way overpowerd, not that thats a bad thing, hahahaaa

finally dialed in my 600l (750mx)today after further experimentation with gpro and castle settings.

ended with 2530rpm head speed. to get the headspeed to work in castle software for edge 80 hv, did the nick maxwell trick. changed the battery volts to 4v per cell-12s. this allows me to get 2530 to work.

at 2530 she is so floaty and has so much hang time. also full pitch pumps and almost 0 movement in tail.

another thing at 2500 right tail stop has good stopping power with gpro. ive always had soft right piro stop ( okay but not great). not anymore.

really loving this heli! even more at 2500+ hs

btw flying more 3d than sportz.

I fly mine at 2500 rpm. But however my tail blows out when doing hard pitch pumps! I get no wag or tail hunting. Just the tail shoots to the right when doing a hard pitch up.

No tail binding. Servo is the bl855 with serial number. Tail is smooth

Now I use the talon 120hv esc on gov. Idle 1 2200. Idle 2 2350 and idle 3 2500

Using 5 degrees timing. And gov gain was 6 I think

So what is everyone's esc settings? Like all of it?

Using 96mm Rail tail blades with 12s 3300mah 35c pulse batts.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're getting TBO during the pitch pumps because your motor is lagging. 6 is pretty low for the Governor gain, even with the fragile drive train. I think I have mine around 10-12, but I haven't looked at it in a while.

I think I had the gov gain at like 15 or 17. The tail would kick out like 90 degrees. After setting it to like 6 it made it better. Also using the torque comp on the Ar7200 at high normal. But the kick is still there just not as bad.

I heard that timing also has a play in the tail kicking out. I'll try to turn it down to 0 and see what happens. Put the gain to 10.

Also to hell with it and ordered the 105mm blades.
