Build videos are sprinkled around the forums. Chris Sexton is one guy who usually does them as soon as new models are released you can see his channel here

https://www.youtube.com/user/cdsexton1

No mods are needed, but turnbuckles are awesome. You will find them on the FBL Rotors page along with other aftermarket parts available for the Synergy line

One thing I would highly recommend on a new build is a ball link sizer (Boto-Sizer)

Synergy links are big, and if not sized properly can really bind and make your servo's seem less than they are

+1 on the Boto sizer.
I have both the E5 and the E7se. There are certain moves that I like to try on the E5 first. Then it feels like the moves are way easier on the E7se. I had a G500 and the E5 last winter. The G500 is very nice but hard to compare the two because the E5 is larger and more powerful (full-size electronics). Sold the G500 to buy an E7se and for me it was a great decision. But you may want to keep your G500 for trying new moves out on.
Glad you found the forum, thought you would like it!

My E7SE (11 lbs., 12.4 oz flight-ready weight) is certainly larger and heavier than my E5 (8 lbs., 4.2 oz flight-ready weight). I consider my E7SE the flagship helicopter in my fleet. However, the E5 gets more flight time due to the simplicity of using only a single 6S pack.

Here is a size comparison of the E7SE (top), E5 stretch (middle), and E5 bottom.

Here is a size comparison among other helicopters. Left to right: Blade 130X, Alight T-Rex 550, Synergy E5, Synergy E5 stretch, Synergy E7SE, MA Whiplash.

This pic shows a stock Synergy E5 next to a Goblin 570 at main shaft level. The Synergy E5 canopy has a longer nose, and the Goblin 570 has a longer tail.

The Synergy E5 also stands a little taller than the Goblin 570.

This pic shows the Synergy E5 and the Synergy E7SE side-by-side.

Of all the helicopters I've owned, I consider the Synergy's my overall favorites.

E5 is rather larger than the Goblin 500.
Though the E5 is a 550 machine think of it more like a 600 size frame.

Right. I consider the Goblin 500 to be in the same size class of a T-Rex 550 v1 to v2.1. My heavily upgraded (and ridiculously expensive) T-Rex 550 weighed 5 lbs., 12.0 oz (2,608g) without the LiPo's. Compare that to my Goblin 570 at 6 lbs., 3.6 oz (2,824g) and my Synergy E5 at 6 lbs., 7.4 oz (2,930g) without the LiPo's, but with virtually the same electronics and same Rail 556/96 blades.

Even though my E5 is 106g heavier than my G570, my E5 outperforms it in just about every aspect. Don't get me wrong, I like my G570, and it looks more modern than the traditional pod and boom look of the E5, but the E5 is just better built and runs more efficiently. At 2,400rpm with Rail 556/96 blades and similar flight times, the 106g lighter G570 consumes approximately 500mah more than the E5. I also find the E5 much easier to work on. With after-market QuickUK magnetic canopy mounts on the front, the E5 canopy is much easier to insert and remove than the G570 canopy. The G570 has a tight fit for virtually all the electronics; The E5 has much more room to fit and work on the electronics comfortably. The E5 also uses mostly M3 screws compared to the smaller M2.5 screws on the G570.

Want to stretch (or shrink), the Synergy E5 and E7SE share many of the tail parts. With a simple pipe cutter from Home Depot, you can cut E7SE tail parts to whatever length you want. With several options for pinions and tail ratios, the E5 and E7SE are highly configurable.

The Synergy experience is also 2nd to none. If you develop any questions or want to share ideas, you can count on a quick response from team pilots and even Matt himself in the dedicated Synergy Forum. Need parts, not a problem. Synergy kits and parts are sold in many of the regular online helicopter stores. Ralph also carries many Synergy specific gadgets and tools in his FBL Rotors Unlimited store along with kits and regular parts. You also have the option of ordering kits and parts from the Synergy Store. Pretty cool!

wow. I am extremely pleased with the synergy support. Seems like synergy is the way to go. but a problem has risen. i could be wrong but i think HD has dropped synergy. I looked into it earlier. Maybe?

I just noticed that. That's too bad. HD often offers those 10% off discounts.

Just did a quick search. I saw the E5 kits available at Ralph's FBL Rotors (available with custom options), the Synergy Store, A Main, and Experience RC (OptiPower combo).

I would think flying the Synergy E7SE would be an easy decision if you fly for HD. HD currently has a plain E7SE and an E7SE/iKon combo in stock. I assume if you purchase from HD, HD would not disallow you from flying it.

My guess is that if you purchase a helicopter from HD, HD should not have a problem with you flying it. When it comes to parts, I would think that HD would not fault you for purchasing a part from a competitor if HD does not carry it. However, if you would be strictly forbidden from purchasing from a competitor, you should still be able to purchase directly from the Synergy Store, as it is not a direct competitor with HD.

I would be interested to learn what the rules are for an HD Team Pilot.

BTW, congratulations in your selection to the HD Team.
