Questions for E5 or E6 and setups
With a E5 as a 6S machine. What are the flight times ? With what motor ESC combinations ?
Is it necessary to stretch it and run it on 12S ? To get the flight time out of it ? Or are the flight times the same on 6S as a 550 vs 12S as a 600 ? With 12S what are your setups, motor, ESC combinations ? I have a spare Kontronik 80HV ESC that I could use ? I would have to build it as a 600. But not sure if it will work for a 12S 600. I wanted to build it as a E5 6S but I am worried it is heavy and would not get the flight times. Most of my new batteries are Revolectrix 4400 6S 60c packs. I wanted to use these. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello!
First off the E5 as a 6s or 12s either way can be setup to do just about anything! Yes 12s might yield more flight time, but on my 6s E5 with 556 mains I have no problem getting 4+ minute flights out of my 6s 4400mAh packs. Running 5000s adds weight which eats up the extra flight time gained by the extra capacity. On 12s the E5 556 is down right un-bogible, but you really aren't going to get much longer flight times as you have to run smaller capacity packs. I know I have posted before about upping to 12s to get longer times, but the net result wasn't night and day. 12s 600, this is hands down my favorite configuration for a couple of reasons. As a 600s, its very light for it's class. the Scorpion 4025-550 motor and an Jive 80HV will give you PLENTY of power with room to grow. My E5s with 626 mains, 4025-550 motor, Castle EDGE 120 and Glacier 4000mAh packs is heavier than most run, but I can still get 5 minutes of flight time no problem. With 3300-3500mAh packs, 5.5 is easy to do. Another advantage to the E5 as a 600 are the autos. Man this thing autos forever on 606 or 626 mains. You can auto 556s but it's harder and riskier as the blades don't hold a ton of inertial energy. Here are motor/esc combos I have used and had great luck with: 12s Scorpion 4025-550 / Castle 120HV and 80HV Scorpion 4035-560 / Castle 120HV - WAY overkill but it fits Outrage/Quantum 4125-560 / Castle 120/80HV / Jive 80HV - not as strong as the scorpion but does well The only 6S motor I have ever tried personally was the Scorpion 4025-1100 and a Castle 120HV. As you know, 6S setups pull more AMPs, I know the Jive can handle larger spikes particularly with the heat sink so you are likely safe there. If you go 600, I recommend getting the 54t and 12T spur gears from the E7se. This will increase the tail gear ratio to 4.5:1 allowing you to keep the main head speed in the 2000-2150 range and really beat on it without killing battery life. I hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions I can answer!

Thank you!! Chris
I wanted to use 6S 4400 mah batteries and build it as a 550. If I do I think I would buy the Kontronik 100 LV ESC. I have some 6S 3300 packs for my Protos stretch that I could use. Just not sure how many I have. As I mentioned if I go 6S I have a Kontronik 80 HV lying around. I guess 2- 6S 4400 mah batteries would be too heavy for 12S 600 ?

It would be heavier but run the 626 mains and it should do ok. My 4000s aren't crazy heavy feeling on 626 mains

My E5 had a 4025-1100kv running 4400 and 4500 packs, and I was getting 5.5 minutes sport flying. I have stretched mine and I'm swinging 626s now and using the same packs and my flight time went way down. I ended last year trying to get things dialed back in and I was running my packs way below 20% left at 5 minutes. I'm planning on going to a 4025-890kv and going to a 7c pack. I've read some really good flight times with that setup. Plus I could throw a 7c in my E7SE and play around with some low speed stuff.

I was originally planning it as a 550 6S machine so that is good news. 5 minuites flight time is all I expected.
If I buy the Castle 120 HV ESC I think it's about $225.00 but I would need a Western Robotics BEC that is about $100.00. Or I could just use a Kontronik 100 LV ESC for about $350.00.

I am running the Kontronik 80HV on my E5S with the scorpion 4035-530 and 620 mains. It is a power house for sure . I get 5:30 on 3300 of I run it hard at a bit higher headspeeds but I get 6:30 if I keep the headspeed down some. It is a great heli for sure.

Well I ordered a New Synergy E5 last night ! I am going to run it as a 6S 550. Hacker A50-6S Turnado V3 Motor, Kontronic 100 LV ESC (I will be using the internal BEC), Savox 1258 on Cyclic, Savox Tail Servo SB 2272 MG (I think this is the one), 553 mm Rail Blades and 95mm Rail Tail Blades, BD3SX Flybarless System, Futaba Receiver and Revolectric 4400 mah 6S 60C Batteries.
Thanks, Dennis P @ Heli Barn Thank you everyone for your help. I made need more when I go to build it.

It doesn't matter the main gear and hub can be mounted to the main shaft either direction.

I ordered FBL Rotors Ti links and his motor mount. The mount looks cool. It should help transfer heat from the motor.
