I have had my dx6i for about a week now and using the set up in this post. It is alot more fun to fly now. But, I am still trying to learn the whole settings thing. Which I am sure will take me years, but is it normal to have to put alot of yaw input to get the nose to turn when I am banking? Is there a way to make that more sensitive?

Hi awilson:

At first, I found the Tx settings overwhelming and complicated (and I'm still learning), but I don't think it will take "years" for you to learn. To make yaw input more sensitive, decrease rudder expo to something like -30 or -40. Experiment with the settings to see what best suits your flying. Thanks.

Hi JAG1:

Thanks for your comments. I would be interested in hearing from you if you decide to tweak these settings later on. Enjoy!

Hi spartanleper:

Good question. I'm not familiar with the DX7se but I would think that there would be similar menus and input of settings. Perhaps others could comment. Good luck!

I could not open the PDF attachment.
I'm not familiar with setting mixes.
How do I mix out the rudd/elev mix on my 6i?

Hi hydro_pyro:

The PDF attachment indicates:

Mix 1: ACT RUDD D+30 & ELEV U+30; SW F. MODE TRIM INH
Mix 2: INH

Good luck.

I just loaded up those settings on my DX6i and I can't believe how much better the mSR flies now.

Thank you for the info.

Default Success!

I was having problems post-crash getting it under control, I fought everything i could until I took a pic and posted it and it was noticed that my links were bent. I got it in trade, and it flew fine...but my theory is the links could have been bent then and just adjusted to make the swash level (I wouldnt know, never flew it new).

After 3 days of fighting it, i printed off your pdf, put the links on at 28.5mm and ajusted the right one up two full turns. I cleared my radio of all the little settings i had put in over the months to keep it flying, and used yours. took about +23 right rudder subtrim and 1 click of forward elevator and it hovered hands off for at least 5 seconds. Amazing.

THANK YOU.

I am still very new to R/C Chopters. I loaded all your settings into my DX6i and have been trying to work on my flying it with those settings. I have a couple questions. Does the F. Mode toggle change the throttle between 0 and 1 mode only? It looks like that also has something to do with the Mix 1. Also does the the Gyro Toggle not do anything?

As an aside has anyone had to bump up the throttle curve on the normal mode? I had problems getting enough lift at 50%?

Also thanks for the settings.

Hi BeerPimp:

Gear Mode will use the normal throttle curve which maxes out at 50% throttle (0, 15, 50, 50, 50). This mode can be used for startup and/or safety.

F. Mode (or Flight Mode) when toggled will use the stunt throttle curve which provides more aggressive throttle (0, 30, 65, 85, 100).

According to my settings, the Gyro switch does not do anything in itself. However, the GYRO is activated in F. Mode. and is set at 100%. Also, in F. Mode, Mix 1 becomes active.

Hope this helps. Have fun!

I just started using my mSR with the DX6i and I wanted to ask how the travel adjust can be 125%? Does that require any sort of adjustment to the heli? Just wondering how the servo can have more than 100% travel.

Thanks!

The mSR's servos won't respond past 100% anyway. Setting it about 100% will effectively make the last 20% of cyclic throw unresponsive.

If you want 150% cyclic throw, that can be mechanically arranged...

I bought my MSR and DX6i last Satruday. The LHS setup the DX6i for me and said that it is recommended to program it as an airplane rather than a heli. Any idea why he would say that? I'm going to try your settings instead. He set it up so that it's at 65% with the elevator dual rate switch in the down position and unlimited in the up position.

They tell you to use airplane/acro mode because it lets you switch high/low rate with the F.mode/Gear switch without requiring any other programming.

If you use Heli mode, you'll need to program the "gyro" switch to toggle channel 5 between 100% and 0%. Set it up in the "gyro" menu to toggle the value between 100% and zero, to enable regular full control rates. (this switch has NOTHING to do with the mSR's own gyro) The built-in low-rate is around 70%. You can also use the other D/R switches to set up custom rates, or the Combi D/R mode to change multiple channels' rates at once with one switch, as the LHS probably did with yours.
