Hi there, I'm a newbie to Heli, I've been flying plane for two year now but just bought T-rex 450 clone(Thunder power eXtreme 450) ARF.Only parts missing is the servos, battery and gyro...

My question is: What kind of servos do I put in there?? I see a few place that suggest "9g" servos(like the Tower pro SG-90), But they look weak on the spec:

• Operating speed: 0.12second/ 60degree ( 4.8V no load)
• Stall Torque (4.8V): 17.5oz /in (1kg/cm)
• Net Weight: 9 grams

compare to Hitec HS-81 one that is a "16g"servo:

• Weight: 0.58 oz (16.6 g)
• Speed: 0.11 sec/60 degrees @ 4.8V
• Torque: 36 oz-in (2.6 kg-cm) @ 4.8V

How much torque do I need on that kind of bird?? Do I NEED a digital servos on the tail or standard as long that it's fast?

I was planning to install a JR G550T Gyro that a friend of mine have for sale but it take only 4.8v, I think that my ECS output is 5v or 5.5v, would it work??

For 450 sized helis the standard is the HS-65MG. Small, light, fast, powerful. The new HS-5065MG digital would be even better.

The JR DS285s have been used, but they are a bit slow, the new DS287MG should be a super small heli servo.

Hey people just got my esky belt cp and I am having some serious issues with the chopper wanting to go hard left and backward upon startup. I have tried to adjust the linkages so that all are at 90 degrees with transmitter on but no luck. I have only had my heli for about 3 weeks so I am very very new to all this. Any suggestions that I can do to help with this matter?

Is it flying hard left and backwards after take-off and once it is in a "hover" position, or is it just happening during take-off, then seems to be o.k.?

If it is just happening during take-off, then seems to be o.k., you are experiencing the normal forces of what a heli will do... all RC helis do this... try applying more right cyclic during take-off.

It pull hard left and backwards once off the ground but it continues to do this no matter how much I try to adjust for it in the controls. Seems to be an error in its setup. I have tried to adjust the linkages and level the swash but nothing seems to work. Mind you I am using a Esky controler and it does have all esky plastic parts on the heli. I am considering upgrading the rotor and tail to T-rex. However I want to try to make this work stock first before I spend the extra money.

Well after all the work I have done to get this heli flying right. I finally found the problem I have a bad servo on the ELEV control on the swash. Emailed Xheli about it since I have yet to get a whole battery through the heli due to the problems. Hope the customer service is as good as everyone says it is. I will let everyone know the results from the situation. But at least I know that once the servo is replaced I should be able to fly the darn thing once and for all.

I built this to help me train and setup......If you need directions to build one write to ZAOAOAOZ@gmail.com. It pivots and rotates on a bearing to allow all helicopter movements without crashing. Great setup bench!!!

I know the DX7 is popular, but for guys having to buy everything to get into helis, like me, the DX6i is more attractive due to its lower cost.

Is there something our there to help me set up the 6i? How similar is it to the DX7?

About the only real difference is the menu setup otherwise features are practically the same.

kgFly, I have to say you have done so much for my heli, I had no idea what I was doing with my frist heli 24 hrs ago and now I know exactly what I need to do to make my super cobra fly the way it was made to, the programing pointers and tutorial were so helpful.
