Weird connector issue
Hi all,
I recently got a lightly-used 6s battery with a used heli I purchased. The battery had a XT-60 connector, and I use Deans, so I swapped it out. This is something I've done several times before (including one other battery in the same soldering session) with no problem. But this time, I plugged the battery into my iCharger to check cell voltages, IR, etc, and received an error message: "Under volt" (or something like that). Turns out that my Buddy RC parallel boards (both of them) won't see any voltage from the main connector. They do get the signals from the balance lead. I've pulled the banana plugs out of the charger, kept them well-separated, and used my volt meter to check voltage - zip. But put the volt meter probes directly into the connector - healthy reading. Also, when I use a straight Dean's-to-banana plug wire and a separate balance board, things work as they should (and the battery is healthy, btw). My parallel boards (two of them are doing this) has worked great for all my other batteries (most of which I've soldered the connectors onto). Now, I know the answer to my problem is "replace the connector", and I plan to do that. But does anyone have any idea why this is happening? It just seems really weird to me . Any insight you have will be appreciated. |
