Default 300x Lynx ultra vrs oxy

I recently built a 300x with the following parts,Lynx ultra frame , 5055 mg cyclic, spectrum 3060 mg tail servos,Lynx head block,Lynx main and tail blades. Lynx one way hub and slant gear. The motor and esc are stock 300x the heli flyies super smooth and locked in. I know the quality of the electronics are budget minded, the Lynx 300x ultra frame looks very similar to the oxy frame so to me they would fly about the same if They both had the same electronics, so then is the oxy 3 a major upgrade? I know upgraded servos, esc, motor make a huge difference in reliability and performance so is it just a Chevy vrs ford thing?

I think it has to do with the stiffness of the Oxy frame. I think it's slightly thicker than the 300X's main frame...I know the tail boom is massive compared to the 300X's, so the frame must be much stiffer at least due to that.

Aside from that, same servo geometry as a 300X with lynx main frame, same motor/gearing, same blade length both tail and main, same batteries, servos, etc. I think they should fly about the same. The reason you see people venerating the Oxy is that the oxy comes out THAT GOOD out of the box. The 300X in its stock form is a little lack luster.

I can tell you though, My 285XL, (300x stretched to 285mm) running 4S on a Typhoon 2215H (4200 RPM), YEP40 ESC, and flown with a Vbar mini RIPS.

They are not on the same planet...

I had a pretty much fully Lynx blinged out 300x and I was thinking the same... why? Its just the same... but it really isnt...

The build quality is way better than the upgrade parts for a 300 and since its built and tested as a kit you notice that a lot of love has gone into making it the best it can be from the start...

agreed, I have both, but the lynx one flies really well. Especially for us average pilots.

That said, I bought mine built/very slightly used and would not be surprised that it would be more expensive to built compared to the oxy.

I'm not saying it flies bad, I loved mine...

Building a "Lynx Ultra 300" is way more expensive then getting a Oxy kit, that based on getting everything, not buying a "fully blinged"...

$85 for the frame, $65 for the head, $35 for the swash, $35 for the OWB and another $20 for the main gear and now you still have to get a bunch of more stuff and have reached the about price for a Oxy3 basic kit...

I love my Lynx 300x but if I was to put it into the dirt, I'd definitely replace it with a oxy3. Then again, if you were to replace the motor and esc in your one, you'll definitely like it more than you do now. At the end of the day any heli is only going to fly as well as you can handle the sticks.

Lots of great information on my 300x Lynx ultra vrs oxy 3,being a mild sport flyer I may not be able to appreciate the increased flight precession of the oxy3 for now, thanks to all who posted.

You are welcome, and I still have to call that "not good enough to appreciate it" bs! Any reason is better than that
