Default Storing charged LiPo

Hi All,

I'm intending to go away for a month and I have some batteries those were fully charged but never had the time to fly and use them.

what will happen if I just leave them there? will this damage the batteries or I will only find that they lost the charge later on so I need to recharge them and that's all?

Sure way to ruin packs. Most say no more than over night.. I charge right as I fly at 3C.. takes only 13-15 mins.

Read this post I just made a couple days ago about my accidentally storing a pack full

It will damage them to some extent. Every hour spent charged does a tiny bit of damage, so you should minimise that time as much as you can. A month may not render the battery totally ruined but it will certainly do some damage.

Keeping the battery cool helps to offset the damage, many recommend putting them in the fridge (in a sealed bag/container).

Leaving lipo batteries fully charged a few days is no big deal. The longer you go, the worse it is for the longetivity of the pack.

Some people are worried about leaving packs charged more than a few hours. I think that's extreme and not not really an issue.

I usually do the "if I'm not flying the next day or day after", packs get either storage charged (if not going to be flown for over a month) or left at appx 30% charge until the next outing.

Everyone has their own thoughts. As Slyster has shown however, extended periods are BAD!

There is a large post on this somewhere. I have 10 6s 5000 packs. 4 of them were left charged for 3 months twice. They are 2 years old next month and still work great. They have a couple 100 charges on them. Can't say what would happen to a turning but a good pack will be fine.

I've stopped flying regularly for a few months now due to changes in my routine. A few of my batteries have remained fully charged. Does this pose a fire risk?
I always balance charge with a cellpro 4 gold.

Probably not a fire hazard but it definitely WILL kill your lipos. Anything over 24 hours you must put them to storage voltage (around 3.8v/cell)

Slightly over 24 hours. I'm slightly concerned after reading on forums spontaneous fires whilst in storage. I have mine in cash boxes in a spare room but I had always thought the main issue in fires was over charging/ charging a damaged battery or physically piercing the cells.

As have been said it is not a big issue to left the batteries charged overnight or so, but if you do that regularly or store them charged that will keep reduce their life. So its no drama to left them charged from time to time but don't make a habit.

A charged lipo is full of energy, the higher the charge the stronger the fire it could do so you want to avoid having a fully charged lipos that you are not going to use. Spontaneous fires are not so spontaneopus, there is something wrong with a cell, the pack have been damaged or there is a short.
