New Habu 32 DF ARF from E-Flite
E-flite takes ARF ducted fan performance and engineering to new heights
with the Habu 32 DF. Designed around the E-flite Delta-V® 32 80mm fan unit and 2150Kv DF32 brushless motor, its hyper-efficient intake and exhaust ducting allows this potent combo to produce large amounts of thrust when powered with a high-C 6S Li-Po pack. And it does so without resorting to drag-inducing cheater holes. The result is a sport EDF with exhilarating speed that will give even experienced jet jockeys goose bumps. As the first Platinum Series E-flite® ducted fan, the Habu 32 DF also boasts a level of fit and finish that is every bit as impressive as its performance. Its sleek fiberglass fuselage comes pre-painted and integrates the vertical stabilizer. The fully-sheeted wings and horizontal stabilizers are reinforced with carbon blade spars and covered with genuine UltraCote®. The control surfaces are hinged for you. Just add the optional E-flite electric retracts (sold separately), and you’ve got a sport jet that truly stands out from the crowd. Features Designed for a direct bolt-in fit for the E-flite Delta-V 32 power system Wings and Stabilizers are removable using carbon blade spars and aluminum sockets for easy transport Painted fiberglass fuselage and a vertical fin with high quality UltraCote covered wings and stabilizer Designed to fit the E-flite 15-25 sized electric retracts Fully sheeted wings and stabilizers Flap Ready Access hatch for the fan unit and a canopy hatch for easy battery access Plastic cockpit deck Specs list for EFL8075 Wingspan 40.5 in (1030mm) Overall Length 49.5 in (1250mm) Wing Area 392 sq in (25.3 sq dm) Flying Weight 7.05 - 7.40 lb (3.20 - 3.35 kg) Motor Size DF 32 Brushless Motor, 2150Kv Radio 5+ Channel Radio system Servos Micro Servos (8 required) Trim Scheme Colors Ultracote - Deep Red, Silver, Pearl Charcoal CG (center of gravity) 100-115mm back from the leading edge at wing root Speed Control 80 Amp brushless Recommended Battery 6S 22.2V 5000mAh 30C LiPo, 10AWG, EC5 Flaps Yes Retracts Optional Control Throw (Ailerons) Low: 7mm Up/Down, 10% Expo; High: 8mm Up/Down, 15% Expo Control Throw (Elevator) Low: 8mm Up/Down, 10% Expo; High: 10mm Up/Down, 5% Expo Control Throw (Rudder) Low: 15mm Left/Right, 5% Expo; High: 20mm Left/Right, 12% Expo Control Throw (Flaps) 11mm take off and cross wind landing; 25mm landing Approx. At least it's not grey & blue, that one should actually be visible in the sky. My Habu tends to vanish in the sky in certain orientations.

I'm only flying a GP Escapade now, but this might be my next plane. I considered the foamy Habu but wanted something with retracts and a little bigger. Can't wait to see one of these in person. Are there any cost estimates (ready to fly) yet?

People on rcgroups seemed to be thinking the all-up cost will be close to $1000, which doesn't seem that far off considering the foam Habu is $400 w/ receiver. I think the $1k was including retracts, which that post makes it sound like the kit won't come with them, probably to keep the kit cost lower.

The LHS is saying between $300 and $400 for the airplane and MAYBE a fan unit... Then you have to put a 6s 5000 lipo, motor, ESC, servo's, rx, retracts, etc etc in it... If you don't have the batts already, your looking at atleast $1000...

the guys at iHobby confirmed that the plane will NOT come with a fan unit, and will be 1000-1200 all up cost if you already have a radio system.
Even with the hefty price tag, the plane is gorgeous, and a great step in the direction of turbines if you eventually plan to go that route. Last edited by stg099; 11-12-2010 at 09:32 AM.. |

Should be a nice jet, but eflite needs a slap in the head. Nothing worse than showing off a new product and then saying you can't have one for at least three months.
