I've got mavrikk G5 Pro's. They're firm in the grips, but I tighten my blades up as per Bert Kammerer's goblin videos. I can rock my blades back and forth quite violently, and they don't move in the grips.
Love the G5 Pro's too, I might add. The have a heap of float which suits my style of flight! |

The Radix blades that I'm using need the roots sanding quite a bit. I'm using 600mm blades and with 95mm tails they're pretty close. Is anyone running the suggested 620mm blades and 95mm tail?

My mavrikk's are 620mm, with 95mm tails. I've had no issues with clearance.

I imagine the extra 20mm of lift can make a difference, though after a bit more setup time yesterday it's got plenty of punch even with the 600mm blades!

I haven't tried a full power climb out yet, but it certainly gets motoring in forward flight with 620's.

Well with full pitch punches I'm getting the tail stepping out around 10°-15° and that's after a correct mechanical setup, gain and head-holding settings, so there's plenty of grunt.
The tail gain seemed to go really high before it started oscillating, something like 88%. So I backed it off to 85% like I would normally and in backwards flight and sweeping turns it's great. I even tried tail pre-comp, but that didn't have any effect. I'm only at 2000rpm at the moment, so I'll up that to 2200rpm and see what the tail hold is like. Do you know what maximum pitch angel you set? I went for 14°, which might be a bit too much. It's really cold here at the moment, so I can't stand outside for more than one flight pack, which makes testing and setup a bit painful.

Hi,
I went out for another testflight yesterday. Really coooold here too. I´ve set pitch to 12,5 ° and have testet headspeed of 1900. Really a punchy beast !!! Because of the freezy temps my batteries dropped in voltage so my ESC shut off. I autorotated from aprox. 10m and landed a bit hard. Landing skids broke. but the beam stood without them straight on the field. Nothing broke...only skids. Need better lipos. Mine were 2x 2650mAh packs from logo400. What lipos do you fly ? Best regards Kalle |

I think I might turn down the pitch a bit, as the tail is only just loosing hold at full pitch and realistically through most manoeuvres I wouldn't use full pitch.
The batteries I use are the Optipower 3000mah, they're not cheap, though they perform very well. http://www.kasama.co.uk/batteries/op...twin-pack.html Do you keep your batteries warm before you fly and charge them inside? Shame you broke a skid, but that's better than anything else you could have broken. Do you power your RX of a separate battery? I use a 2s pack for the security of ESC failure.

I use the hercules pro bec. My ESC is the fusion hawk 120 opto. A friend told me to shut off the voltage cut off option because it was too sensible. Now i´m waiting for the new skids. They should be here this week. Time for better weather. |

Mine is set up with 12.5° +/- pitch, and I still haven't used full pitch yet...
I think it will be a long time before I need any more pitch! |

Yep, I was definitely using too much pitch. I knocked it down to 13° and it's holding well now.
Today was the first time I started to throw it about more and it's great! After a couple of flips and rolls I stopped worrying about any bad setup problems and really started to enjoy it. I had been running at 2000rpm and tried 2200rpm, but got a few vibes, so I dropped it back down. I think the vibes were due to the belt being a bit loose. Can't wait to get some more flying time!

How tight are you running your belt? Mine is just tight enough so the belt doesn't hit the inside of the boom if I shake the heli. I can take mine to 2250 with no vibes so far.

That's probably how tight mine is now, it was just hitting the inside of the boom before. It does seems to stretch quite a bit... have you got the urethane belt?
The vibes might also have been my teeth chattering, it was so cold.

Nah, still running the stocker... it stretched a little in the first couple of flights, but now it's good.
