Is the black the earth? And the white?

Thanks for that, but what do you mean by hot 3.7 volts in red? I have a mcpx bl which is 7.4 volts. I guess it doesn't matter right? Thanks

The markings in the manual are for the SiLabs C2 interface connection
black = GND (Ground)
white = C2D
red = C2CK

Thanks for that!

Can you confirm the red can be soldered directly to the positive wire from the power source?

Also, where else the black can be soldered?

By the way, SiLabs is the one I have and is the one I originally wrote blheli code on both escs.

Thanks a lot!

Red is not VCC it is C2CK (C2 clock signal).

Sorry, I am not familiar with these initials.
Can you please translate for a newbie?
Thanks.

hi,
i'm totally new to blheli and blheli based escs.
i'm trying to bench test a dys sn20a esc, but the tail motor i'm using won't run.
when i connect the esc to blheli suite, i can see the motor type is set to 'multi'.
so, in order to run the tail motor properly, should i flash the esc selecting the type 'tail'?
thanks a lot.

Yes. "Tail" is for tail motors.

You need to program each motor separately..

So YES use Tail to flash BLHeli code for the tail motor

Ok, but what happens if I have the wrong type? The motor will not run?
Anyways, I've flashed the ESC to TAIL, but the motor doesn't respond. ESC beeps only 3 times and there's no more beeps.
Also, Esc won't enter configuration nor throttle calibration mode via the tx. Does a blheli ESC require a special procedure to be configured via the tx? I've used the standard procedure (throttle stick up, power esc, wait for 3 beeps, throttle down, wait for 3 more beeps), but nothing happens.
Also, all of a sudden, when I flip throttle hold, motor starts spinning. A few minutes later, flipping throttle hold again makes no difference at all (motor won't run anymore).
Any idea on what's going on?
Thanks

I am not using this esc on a drone. I know nothing about drones, btw. I am using this on a micro helicopter. This esc will be used to control a brush less tail motor.

I have just bought this esc and 1stly I am testing it on the bench to see if it is working fine.

I connected the esc to the throttle port on the Rx. then I connected the motor wires to a motor (that happens to be for a tail, but it is simply a brush less motor...). Finally I connected the red/black wires to a 2s lipo. This is just plain, standard and normal wiring.

I turn on the Tx and move the stick down. When I plug the battery, I hear a 3-beep sound that tells me that the esc has been energized... and that is all. The rest of the beep melody that means "everything is ok" does not happen. Then, when I throttle up nothing happens too. Motor will not run. I flip throttle-hold on and off repeatedly and all of sudden motor starts running, but I have no control on the throttle stick. I toggle throttle hold on/off again and nothing happens now. I also cannot enter programming or throttle calibration mode. Esc simply will not enter those modes.

Questions:
1) How to enter calibration mode on a blheli esc? Should I do it the same way I do with every other non-blheli esc? I mean, turn TX on, move throttle stick up, turn esc on, wait for 3 beeps acknowledging the higher throttle end point, mover throttle stick down, wait for 3 beeps acknowledging the lower throttle end point?

2) How important is choosing the right motor type on blheli suite? If I choose the wrong motor type, motor will NOT run at all or will run “sometimes”?

Thanks.

I left the ESC sitting overnight and the next morning it worked as expected. How can that be?

The ESC may have had sleepless nights during shipping and needed little rest.

Default Which blheli version is the best for a heli tail and main motor?

I thought the latest version of any firmwares is the best. But for blheli, it is not true. I use blheli 11.2 for my nanos. I personally think it is the best version. Can anyone share what version you use and why you think it was the best?

I use version 12.1 or 12.2

Back when I tried the 13.0 and later versions I couldn't get motors to work.
