Default What is your tail gain at?

Just trying to see the average of everyone out there, I suppose a list of the FBL controller, tail servo, tail blades and transmitter would help, ill start!

Gain 65%

Beastx
GU-502 (stock fes kit servo)
KBDD EE tails for the x5
DX6i

I might need to try turning it up, i didnt have my end points on the beastx out far enough so I was getting tail blow out and beastx shutter at 66% I reset endpoints and lowered gain to 65% and it felt alot better, no heavy shutter, before the endpoints were reset i was doing a hurricane (i think) where the rotor head was in facing me but tail was leading so it was a fast backwards circuit, it basically turned all the way around like flying in rate mode in a simulator, I didnt really push it that hard cause i was flying on a battery that wasnt mine after i made the changes but it did seem better.

I am running:

Mini Vbar blue with 5.3 pro
Savox sc-1290mg tail at 6v
Tail gain is at 85 on vbar slider.

This tail servo is crap. Stalls easy. Waiting for outrage servos to come back in stock.

Mini vbar 5.3
Stock equipment
80%

I'm breaking in packs at 75% right now, this is a new (to me) heli I traded for, I did try an old broke in 3000 mah for a 500 and the tail did fine. If I run higher head speeds I'll probably have to shave 5-10% off the gain....

Might want to do the tail setup per nwmtechs guide , its a sticky in the beastx forum
You gotta hit your servos/tail blades optimal settings , might be para low or med

DX8 - Gain 39%
Stock Servo
Edge 86's

You guys with really high gains, is that because you're running much better servo's? I know that if I knock my gain up a couple more points I get the hell wag during high speed turns.

I know mine is the bl hv servo, I had to go that high to hold during high speed tail in loops

Everything else would hold about 10 points lower.

that's why I said include your radio. On my dx6i I only have adjustment from 0 to 100 so 51 and above is headholding. But on your radio it goes -100 to +100 and anything +1 and above is headholding.

if I did conversion correct you should be around 69 to 71 on a dx6i

Also, u can disable the gyro menu and use the gyro gains from the travel adjust menu, wich has 0/100 for rate and 0/100 for HH mode

This I know.

I was referring more specifically to Souskei and fusionsx00 who both have a DX8 and really high gains in comparison to my DX8. 71 and 80 no less, double my gain.

I can only put it down to their tail servo's.

I followed the beastx tail setup (a sticky on the beastx forum) to pretty much a T.

I can't do very clean hurricanes, so I didn't really on that to judge where my tail was ( as far as setup goes)

But with really fast backwards flights and super speed tight banks my tail is solid.
I don't hear any whiplash or bounce backs or any signs of wag. Nor does the tail overshoot.

Now is it that bls 251 picking up the slack of my poor collective skills? Probably.

Tbh I've never flown anything else as a tail servo on the x5 ( I purchased it with a bls 251)

But in comparison, my buddy runs a dx8 and a ds650 with a beast, also following the tutorial, and his gains at 61 with edge tail blades.

Ps my pot 3 is at 1030ish o clock.

Ahhh! Perhaps its to do with the overall BeastX setup too then. I'm pretty noob - just did my first loops last weekend (proud). In any case, I can't really go through the full extent of the BeastX setup yet because of that.

I'll see if I can't go through what I can with my limited skills though - it might allow me to increase gain a little. Not that it's probably needed at my skill level anyway.

Thanks for the explanation Souskei.
