Default Tail Servo Options

Well, my tail wag is back. I've replaced my tail thrust bearings and I have no binding or vibes. The only thing that seems to work is turning the tail frequency down to 165Mhx on the BeastX, but the tail doesn't hold as well through pitch pumps.

I thought I'd try another tail servo. Worst case I sell it to one of you guys for a slight loss if it doesn't fix it.

I'm looking at the Torq 9188... I'm on the stock ESC/BEC and I really don't want to buy anything else, specs show it can be run at the standard 5V, although the stock BEC does have a 6V mode too.

Is that pretty much the best bang for the buck right now?

Sorry if I'm bit of hijacking, but I can see both JR and Graupner 8900g servos. Are they the same/what's the difference?

Graupner one seems to be cheaper for some reason - and can be run on 6.0v?

I wouldn't recommend that servo for one reason. Coreless motors do not last as long as brushless..period.

If your on a low voltage application get a BLS 254 or 251 ( I have the 254, but the 251 is faster due to higher resolution)
OR get the 9188 if your running high voltage.

I haven't had a lot of flight time since installing it, but the Futaba BLS 256HV has worked great so far too even on just 6V.

+1.. Just replaced my crappy Align DS650 with 9188 very happy with it, I was surprise at this difference..

Im now after funds to replace my Inolab's with Outrage 9088 servos.. Hopefully the Outrage cyclics are just as good as the tail servos.

MKS BLS980 (6v) or the high voltage version MKS HBL980 are 2 other excellent choice for tail servos.

Which servo (of the many mentioned) are you referring to?

sorry, I was referring to the JR DS8900G. It has a coreless motor. Whilst coreless motors are lighter than brushless, and can often be faster as a lower cost, they do use brushes. Brushes wear out. Brushless motors last forever (almost).
