Default End Of Summer Bash Fredericksburg VA Aug 31, Sep 1-2

All you tri-state guys, get ready for another summer blow out at the Campbell Memorial airfield. It's been great everytime I've made the trek down and looks to.be another awesome fun fly. Hobby Hangar(regional gents know this as RC mecca) will be on site too.

I'm gunna contact Casey Campbell to see about getting some extra heli games added in for any freaks that come. Thinking the baseball tip-off might be a good one.

The plank guys usually sit farther down on the line, while all the usual heli pilots congregate towards the right the times I've been there. Granted, the plank only guys there are usually pretty fun with cool birds. Big scale or 3d aircraft, and then all the LED foamy "dogfighting" at night is great. I'm still waiting for a 600E + foamy confetti event....

For just the "little" fun fly last time there were about 8 heli guys. Spring Fling was more like 15+. This being the big end of summer deal, probably going to see 15+ usuals before adding in "fun fly" attendees.

I'll probably end up either in a big tent, or the two nearby chain hotels.

Hmmmm.... sounds interesting.

I thought it was an off weekend for me so I should be able to attend. Great hosts at the Fredericksburg field and I always have a great time. Dinner sounds yummy but I'll wait until the last minute to pay up and reserve a spot at the table. Will have to bring my 5-hour Energy to stay up for the midnight raffle since that is WAY past my bedtime.

The closest Metro stop would be Franconia / Springfield, it's probably another 55 miles from there to the field.

There is VRE the virginia commuter railroad but it only operates monday thru friday.

Looks like amtrak runs dc to fredericksburg and then it's only about 10 miles to the field

Arrive on Friday night, leave Monday morning. Problem solved

Shadco, we should be there on Sunday morning, I think Eddy's probably going to put together a couple of foamies to dogfight with.
Weather is looking good so far.

Good to hear about the weather. All the bugs are out of the 130x for the trip, and the other helis are ready to go

I'll probably be up midday Friday, and stay until 11pm Sat, or leave on Sunday afternoon if enough folks are still around. Same deal for the Spring Fling and little fun fly they did earlier. Hope to meet all the freaks before I leave.

A buddy handed me his wrecked p51 foamy. New fuse is 40$ and the electronics were fine. However this time it has a stupid overpowered powered BL motor. Now I've got a guided missile of a micro for the foamy fights. Either I manage to hit someone, or it's going to turn into airplane confetti from it's own power haha.

I think I've heard something like that before, maybe this time you guys won't check the weather forecast, (remember those are usually wrong).

Really just Sunday?

130X is squared away now but who knows if it will wear out between now and then.

If you lose some pitch links or those little TT gears blow out I've got a pile of them if you need a few at the fly. I figured when I bought this little guy I'd crash more. I've found I crash way less since when I think about it, most of my mcpx crashes were from blowouts :/

So far the only real "crashes" have been wall landing attempts; numbering 3. The little bugger bounces right off even though it has enough power. I'll have to work on the precision.

BL p51 is working now though. It's a bit uncontrollable at higher power..which appears to be pulling it along at least at 45mph lol. One hit at that speed and this little guy goes poof.
I need to get some LEDs for it though.

Doesn't he normally use his 600 for that?

lol, he's banned from bringing helis to any FF now, they always get torn up.
At the last Fredericksburg FF his tail let go and it went in, the rut is probably still on the flightline.

If anyone has any say on where the helis fly, can we try to get at the front flight line where the cornfield is?
I won't be flying, I'm short on 700 parts and electronics so I'm heliless but we're bringing at least 2 people who have working machines and hopefully the foamies.

Looking forward to this one.

Right now there's corn on every side!!! Im referring to where the entrance is facing route 1. I'll have my 550 if you want to fly it around.

You can burn a couple of packs with my 130X you will like it.

I plan on getting there late morning on Friday and staying thru Sunday. My little brother lives a couple of miles away so I will be staying there.

Oooh, 2 helis to cra.....I mean fly!
It's appreciated guys but if I piled one in I'd never forgive myself, I have a hard time watching other people crashing, let alone my own.
I'm more than happy to watch, it's (almost) as much fun as flying for me.

If I can get up there on Saturday I'll drive up both days, I think that'll be the best night for foamy carnage so I'll ask the guys if they're up for it.

If I can find an ESC between now and next week the 700 may be ready.
