This gyro is beginning to get noticed and used. There are a couple of threads in RCG where users have posted their experiences and it seems to be positive. One point that was borne out was that the GY280RX has its own programming box so that you do not have to bring your laptop to the flying field for fine tuning.

Default Issues with GY280

Have you guys seen this issue? the unit would bind to my RX but the blue LED indicator will not go solid?

here's a video of what I'm trying to explain.

GY280RX Issues (1 min 33 sec)

I've also pulled the log and it says the satellite data is out of synch? some things to note:

on vbar display it does not recognize/display any input from my rx, but when I tilt the it compensate properly, it looks like everything else is o.k. except it's just not seeing the RX input, possibly due to data being out of synch?

You use the wrong receiver type. You must use normal receiver.

you mean single line receiver or dsm2? what did you use when you set yours up using the vbar app.
I pretty much tried all of the different receiver type and the result is the same. Blue LED never goes solid

I just did it again using the normal receiver type as you suggested, now it works. Thanks a lot for the help.

By the way, I saw your post about using the mini vbar. I'm using one on one of my 130X and so far I'm very happy with it. If there's anything I can answer for you regarding the mini vbar please let me know.

Thanks

Would there be a way to use this with DMSS (JR) or at least with a Devo radio? I am thinking about getting a v120 again and this would be pretty cool.

You can only use it with a Devo radio with Deviation firmware.

Deviation on Devo's are excellent, Just be warned the Devo 7 can NOT use deviation. the 7e, 8, 10, 12 are all good to go though!

I bought 2 of the GY280 units recently. Finally got them both set up on two different micros. I turned my V120D02S into a crazy 3S machine with the CH05XL motor and turnighy plush 10A esc. I have some Nano Tech 180mah 3S batteries, which seem a bit small, and some Zippy 350mah 3S batteries, which seem way too big.

I also converted my old NE Solo Pro 180, but kept it 1S, since the motor area would be difficult to modify for a larger motor, and I have a ton of 3.7V batteries. I had to put the original ESC from the V120 on there, as the original didn't seem to play well with the voltage booster. I originally planned on converting this one to 2S, but it seemed a bit hard on the motor.

It took a bit of work to get them set up with the vbar software, but they seem pretty good now. The SP180 is solid and smooth. The V120 is like an angry wasp.

I am looking at my Android phone, with Vbar app already installed.

Which would I use for the GY280? I can not find ‘Normal Receiver’ type, as others have suggested:

Separate Channels (Standard RX hookup)
Spektrum Satellites digital center (1 or 2)
Spektrum DSM-X Satellites (1 or 2)
Futaba S-Bus
Single Line (Futaba, Jeti, Graupner, Hott etc.)
Multipliex M-Link
Spektrum Satellites (1 or 2)
Spektrum Hires Satellites (1 or 2)

Is Normal the same as Standard? I don't want to fry the unit before even trying ... btw, i am using a JR x9503
