Duh...
These are the 2s versions but yes they can be fitted in the mcpx liftbag was the one to fit a hpo8 (2s) in a mcpx.

I just ordered this motor and got it in today. However the connector was not attached. I just have 3 copper wires coming off the motor. How to I know which one is which? I need to solder it up.

You have a 50% chance (statistically, at least) of getting it right the first time. Just connect all three wires to your esc, and if the motor runs in reverse, just swap any two wires.

It's the same highly technical process we all go through when we install a new brushless motor. Unless your esc has motor reversing in its programming.

Nailed it! Spun right direction on the first try! Wow I kinda got scared the first time it spooled up. I know this is not as powerful as the HPO8s but man alive this thing ain't no joke either.

But the pinion does not go down as far as I would like. It touches and spins but it's just barely touching. I tried trimming some of the main gear but it looks like Ill either need to get the pinion dropped or shave a longer flat spot on the main shaft...

Any other methods I might try? Was hoping I did not have to spend money on a pinion puller and glue.

What mainshaft are you running? It's sticking way too far down than normal. When MS sticks out that much below main gear, main gear should've been buried into the frame (i.e. no visible MS part between frame and main gear). Looks like if you have the MS and MG positioned normally you'll have no problem with pinion height.

EDIT: Oh just had a closer look and didn't realize you've already shaved off the thin part of the MG. You need to shave the D-flat on the MS further up for the MG to sit higher but not high enough to touch the frame.

Yeah I figured I would it's just gonna take a lot to take it all back apart. Had my fill for today. So I should not drop the pinion further down?

With a small enough file (even a nail file may work), I don't need to remove MS to file it down. Just keep the bird upright and file slowly which you want to anyways for accuracy so that CF dust won't get stuck in the lower MS bearing. I would file the MS since you already have the MG shaved and exposing the lower MS bearing. Be careful to just extend the D-flat. Don't deepen it or else the MG will wobble on MS.

Does it fit without cutting the frame? I'm looking for a more powerful drop in replacement than the standard one.

No cutting . But u do have to slot the motor mount holes for mesh adjustment.

I used the stock pinion and did not have to slot the holes. Mesh is good just need to raise the main gear a but.

Yeah I'm getting a lot of bog 100% pitch with bullet blades on 85% and 100% throttle. It's better with the performance blades just need to use the DR suggested in the manual and it's pretty stable.

TNT did you ever go back to the 10t on this?

Yeah i'm using the stock 11t, I'm guessing that was a bad idea. Hows battery life on the 9t? compared to stock setup at 100% throttle?

I am not looking for more power or headspeed. I am interested in weight savings and better CG. Does anybody know if the HP06 performs as well as the stock motor? Which pinion will closest match the stock headspeed? Thanks for the help.

Get the 08 moved up and I'm much happier. Just get the 10t pinion. I'd compare performance to the stock just no bogging.

Has anybody ran the HP08 with a 9 tooth pinion? How was the performance compared to the stock motor? Was there a clearence issue with the small pinion? Thanks.
