Nice! Gonna be a while before I start attempting them, maybe by the end of the summer.

Stuffed it in today. Needs the standard stuff replaced, other than the tail boom which somehow did not get damaged.

I wonder if you could practice these with training gear on, I want to learn how but am scared. I didn't realize they come down so fast I thought it was slower in the simulator. Or do you lose to much head speed going slower?

yeah 450x shouldnt auto as good as it does(not saying its great)
theres a tail mod for longer flare time and thats what the 450x needs to do a stylish auto, otherwise its coming straight down fast.

the sim can be adjusted to be more realistic but its not far off.
i liiked to do runway autos which are FFF in a circuit about 30-40 feet up
hit the th and give it neg to keep feeding the rotor system air.
i would do mini autos, auto bail outs, sliding autos on the runway.. fun can be had forsure.

Training gear, if secured properly shouldn't cause an issue. Big helis (550 and above) don't come down that fast, but 450's really do come down quickly and there's nothing you can do about that.

The real answer is that large helis - like a 700 are the easiest platform to learn on - since they just float for ages. Also, with a proper ESC, you can set auto-rotation bailout so that you can practice the auto from up high, and re-engage the motor at about 15 feet before the deck.

That all said, I did my first auto on a 450X - but I trained a lot on realflight 7 (phoenix is rubbish for autos IMO - too easy!) and at that point, the 450X was my real "basher" heli - I already had two 700's and 550's so I was prepared to sacrifice the 450 a bit. As it turned out, it auto'ed OK - but as you noted, FAST!

Default My first couple of flights ever!

Here's a clip of me flying a heli for the first time! (this was last Saturday 11/25/17)

Well, I used to "fly" a cheap fixed pitch heli a million years ago without success. It was so frustrating that I moved on to planes and lately racing drones.

So I found this gem on a local Toys for tots swap meet for $180 USD mint condition so I decided to give it another try at helicopters and oh man, what a beauty!

On my first day, I started doing circuits, figure 8s, and even loops!

My friends at the local club, which had years of experience with helis could not believe their eyes! They thought I would not even hover it. hahahahahaha.

Here's the video of that day.

Mi primer vuelo de helicóptero 🚁 (5 min 46 sec)

I must admit that I do have lots of fixed wing and racing drone experience, so that helped too.

I'm learning a ton of new things...

Cheers fellow pilots!
