Default HS-65mg vs 5065mg

I am trying to decide on which cyclic servos i should get for my 450. I am looking for durability over speed. I havent had that much luck with Hitec servo's in the past but everyone here swears by these 2 servos so I figure they are worth a shot. Are the 5065's any less reliable than the analog HS65?

HS65MG - unless you are going flybarless and require digital the 65MGs are the better choice IMHO.

HS65MGs are the work horse of the 450 industry... The 5065 are no faster, just center better, but strip easier!

So the 5065's strip easier? Is that the general consensus. I want durability over speed or anything else.

I've never used the 5065 but I can vouch for the HS65s being super tough. I've given mine quite a beating and they are still working perfectly.

Just to be clear, the HS5065 and the HS656 use the same gears, made of the same stuff, but the digitals have a narrower dead band and try to stay centered harder, so that is the cause of the stripping. Or so I'm told

Thank you, I think the 65mg's sound like servo's for me. I have been using inexpensive metal gear servos that were breaking with every crash. Finally the other day i thought I lost my radio and my heli tail dived into the ground from about 60ft up. Turns out one my servos just decided to go bad. So now i think its time for something a little more reliable.

Same thing happened to me so I feel your pain, that's the reason I went over to the 65mg's. Mine was an align servo that went bad, I was only about 20ft up though

Are the negative reports on the 5065's mainly that they strip after a crash, or are they failing in flight like the POS Align DS410M's? The reason I ask is because I honestly don't build my heli's with crash survivability in mind. If I see me new 450 Pro go in the dirt, the last thing on my mind will be the servos.

I've got a set of the 5065's and a set of the old standby HS65 MG's sitting right in front of me. I'm trying to decide which way to go. I'm leaning towards the HS65's as it's difficult to find ANY negative reports on them of any kind.

It seems like the majority of people here are using the HS65 with great success. I have yet to see anyone complain. The digital 5065 use the same metal gears but because they are digital they strip more often due to the way they hold. I'm going tomorrow to pick a set of HS65. Durability is what I want. I dont plan on doing FBL on this bird so no big deal.

I've had 1 nose-in crash with 5065's and the servo's survived just fine. As stated above, they use the same gear set.

I guess I'm just a digital kind of guy. But why spend more money than you have to. There must be some advantage to digital servo's besides FBL applications?

Anyone know if you can use the plastic karbonite gears in the 5065?

It would make sense on a FBL setup, cheap to replace and less slop.

I'm not a Hitec rep, (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night,) and I say why wouldn't they? The HS65HB and MG are interchangeable...
