Default My Scorpion 130HV opto is great so far

I have to admit I was a bit scared to try this 130 opto ESC. I think it's a V4 or older version as it doesn't have that extra cable for the vbar gov etc... Got it used off the forums, as I heard the gov was decent. Anyway, it's working well and after setting one up, they are easy as cake. Setup is Compass 7hv, 130hv esc, Compass 4926-510 on 15th pinion gov set at 73% in idle one, and 83% in idle 2. Never tached it, just tuned by "ear" to get the sound and feel I wanted on this machine. Gov works ok, and I'm happy with the product for the $ spent.

with the several posts of many brand ESC's that are failing/burning, it seems that people are paranoid about buying almost every ESC. I've had almost every brand fail too, but while I feel it is important for users to know and report failures, it sometimes becomes a bash fest or someone whining about their bad luck. Granted, I wouldn't be happy either about failed components, especially if collateral damage occurs. I think end users need to take a deep breath though and realize that not all ESC failures or "burns" are the ESC fault. Some are end user issues, bad settings, bad solder joints, bad plugs, bad motors, you name it. Some ARE bad ESC's and yes I think there does need to be an area where stats are kept. There is a guy keeping a log/list of failed HV ESC's and I think a small webpage devoted to those stats would be good to know but BOTH GOOD AND BAD. I say that b/c when we hear only 3% failure from a manufacturer, but see 20 posts a week, it's hard to believe the maker. Yet WHAT IF that is true and they are selling 6,000 or w/e units per week and all of the bad ESC users posted up!!! So how about we try to determine more accurately. We can probably never know the true statistics, but at least we can get a better idea if we include the good and bad, or if someone posted a good response and had it go bad, someway to revise as well.

it's not a "OPTO" if it is the older version.

the cable doesn't come with it you gotta buy it separately.
I have the latest OPTO 130 and so far so good. comes down ice cold.

well w/e lol. it's the non new one hehe!

Comes down cool too and motor runs pretty decent on temps vs another ESC I used. Power seems better too.

I want to tweak the gov more, as I think I'm too noob with this esc to fully realize it's potential.

well I cursed myself. Killed it this past weekend at St. Charles funfly. No fire, ESC just shut off in air. 2 popped caps, one leaking badly. Now it won't arm. I was going to replace the caps myself, but seeing as it won't arm, I'm guessing the caps allowed further damage past them .

lol yeah
at this point all I ca do is laugh. I've had 3 ESC's(in various machines) take a dump on me in past month. All with diff motors, helis etc... so no common issue other than bad luck lol. This hobby can be a monumental PIA sometimes when you get a run of luck like this, but oh well. Keep plugging along!
