Tried the motors the other day... Wow!
Did not properly fix the mobius so I got some jello effect but it was able to lift it and fly!
Will build a light flexible holder for the cam and try again.

Anyway the motors are powerful, somehow more silent and the flying experience is awesome.
It would be amazing to be able to order them with proper 180QX connectors soldered. I am sure it would boost sales a lot

Did you see those plugs available separately anywhere?
Is there any "official" name for them?
I'm afraid it's a Blade homebrew, and we won't be able to get them in bulk.

And in order to make the whole effort worthwhile for us, we need to sell a lot of motors. And I can't see the 180QX being popular enough to justify that. The only motor we made plug and play are for the nQX and for the Latrax Alias. We get questions on those two quads every day.
For the 180: one question a once every two weeks or so.
Might be due to the price tag. Not sure..

If you sell them with that plug attached, you could also sell that 8.5mm for some other heli's. Would be a drop in for the msrx / and works great with the ncpx ( just need to make the motor hole a little larger. But this -17 motor is awesome !!!!!!!!

Took the next step! I have now upgraded my 180 to the Dark Edition motors and I swear it's just as fast as my 200QX, in a straight vertical acceleration. I added some FPV to it and it carries the FPV gear and the 808 #16 cam just fine. If it wasn't for these motors, I would have sold my 180 and I would just be using the 200QX.

Hmm.. Fitting a plug to a motor in the factory is more difficult than it may sound. You don't only need a plug source, but also machines to fit the plugs. Micro-JST plus are relatively universal, so it was quite easy to set machines up for them.
The extra effort we would need to make to fit these Blade plugs could double the cost of the motors. I think we would not sell many of them.

On the other hand (!), it takes about 10 seconds to solder a plug by hand. Maybe a little solder tutorial video is a good compromise?

Thank you so much for the reply!!! I knew it would be a long shot. I don't mind the soldering. It gives me something to do. I have definitely gotten better at small scale soldering too. Your motors ROCK!!! I can't say that enough.

As a NEARLY Plug-n-play, could you supply the motors, plugs, and instructions as a kit? Would be easier for the enterprising motor-swapper than having to guess at what plugs and source them separately...

Far as I can tell from scouring the net, it looks to be e-flight related. That original link is the cheapest I could find them.
I will say this, I would be willing to pay 4 or 5 bucks more for a set of motors if you got them at that price! Maybe someone else can find them cheaper.
Are you getting enough of a demand to even do that? Just curious if it'll be worth your time.

Very important to include in the kit "for the 180QX" clear COLOURED instructions about soldering. The end-user must be very careful to match white/blue/red/black colors properly. Those instructions are very helpful even if the end-user is asking a friend to help with soldering.

I also kept my 180 only due to those motors. They double the fun flying the quad

all you have to do is un-solder the plugs that's already on the stock motors and attach them to the new motors the thing your missing is the .6mm heat shrink.

Ben maybe you can supply 20mm of heat shrink per motor ?

Looking at the plugs in person: they look very... simple. Shouldn't be too hard to find an alternative for a fraction of the price. Will try!

Alright, various sample plugs are on order.
I expect them in about 2 weeks.

Meanwhile, I put quite a few packs through the 180.
I like it! Zippy little bugger

What I dont like so much: the SAFE mode is quite limiting. The maximum inclination angle isnt enough to fly hard maneuvers. Also, I see it wobble when cranking the sticks hard enough.
The latter might get better when replacing the motors, but the SAFE mode wont.
I think I will end up putting an AlienFC into it and fly it in horizon mode.
Should fly a bit like this then:

Latrax Alias maximised - The Hacklias V2 (1 min 59 sec)

But since it weight almost 20g less than the Alias, I expect more

The SAFE mode is for beginners (like me). Switch to the 3rd mode (Experienced) and let the 'beast' fly I can't do that since she will fly straight to the ground

I find "safe" mode a much more intuitive mode than "acro" or "expert".
It just needs more than 40 deg bank angle. 70-90 deg is good.
The MultiWii mode "horizon" is the perfect hybrid. Self-leveling at center stick, and a smooth ramp towards "expert" at full stick deflection.
