I usually do a practise wind with 0.6mm when i do a new or difficult wind. It literally takes a few minutes (you don't have to do a neat job) and you test both your winding, your termination and confirm kv with very good accuracy. Check continuity again and check the wire to see if you have scratched it or pulled too hard agaist the iron... Fot tools i use wood wedges and plastic tail blades from 450-500 size helis. I have sanded down a pair of small needle pliers to very thin cross section and finished them with 2000. Cost me nothing apart from 2 hours with my dremel and sandpaper. They work wonders.

Default Align 850MX shaft removal question.

There is no visible clips on the shaft and it appears that only 2 set screws at the top of the can (in the fan part) are holding the shaft in place.
I would appreciate for someone who already took this motor apart to confirm my findings before I try to press the shaft out.

Picture of the bottom part?
Is it a standard align shaft with the ring built in on the shaft? If so than you press it out and the best move is to buy a scorpion shaft and replace it.

That's what it looks like.
Thanks for a tip on the Scorpion shaft. It will safe me some time. I guess I just pick the right length and it's ready to go.
Anything else I should know?

If I'm not mistaken the 850 is a 4535 motor. You need the equivalent Scorpion one. Check that I'm correct before you buy
