How about for battery power at the field when there is no AC power available?
I'm an idiot when it comes to electrical. I know that I can tie two batteries together to get a 24 volt input for my 306b icharger, but what size do those batteries have to be? IOW, can I use motorcycle batteries? What is the number I need to look at... max amps? cranking amps? I'm so confused....

I use two deep cycle marine batteries from Walmart and they work great in series. I can get up to 12 or 13 charges for my 6s5000 packs.

Sent from my dumb phone.

When choosing batteries for a charging system you need to make sure that they are Deep Cycle batteries, not Starting Batteries. DCs are rated in amp/hrs and SBs are rated in CCA (cold cranking amps). The SB type battery is built with a lot of thin lead plates so it can provide a large boost of amps for a short period of time to start a motor. The DC battery uses a thicker plate, usually solid lead and provides a much smaller amount of amps over a much longer period of time. Generally said, the DC can be discharged to 20% available capacity (11.58V) much like a Lipo, however for best battery life most people recommend only discharging to 50% capacity (12.06V).

I would look for Deep Cycle batteries of around 125AH or better for portable power if you don't have AC or a generator available.

Capi I have two 125ah in series and do the math... very efficient with the packs being the same voltage as the power source so little loss. I did 12 packs once and was down to perhaps 30 or 40% or so.

If you only want the charger you can wait for the new ElyQ charger case. Not official but can give you some inside pictures(thanks to B. de Groot):

Speaking of ElyQ, the vision 50Electric looks like it is more than capable of giving the fusion 50 a run for the money. The only thing I see That I dont like is a some what align kinda tail slider/pitch lever. Still cant wait to see what AleeS (charley's heli company) is going to release. I am keeping my eye open for the case above, It looks sweet!

I now have all the major components needed to go into final assembly of the portable charging station and the final adjustments completed to the cutting template. I love my new ICharger 306B, this charger works fantastic. I think the final upgrade to this box will be to ditch the Turnigy 8150 and replace it with another 306B.

Finally got a chance to do a little more work to my portable charging set-up. The cut-out for the end plates of the PSUs has been completed and they are now mounted into the tool box. Got a little touch up cosmetics to do the the tool box end and then work on getting the plexiglass insert cut to mount the chargers and binding posts.

Just finished up the rough work for the charger mounting tray. Cut out the bottom of the tool box tray and then cut and fit the plexiglass. I had to recess the underside of the binding posts into the plexiglass so the threaded part on the bottom would be long enough. A plunge router worked great for this. Finally, cut the wiring to proper length and soldered on the spade terminals to the ends. My 24V/72A beast is almost complete.

The Beast is now finished. I am the proud owner of a portable charging set-up capable of both dual 12V and dual 24V outputs up to 72 amps of juice.
Each PSU has its own switch to power up the 12V rail so I can stage the power on after plugging in the PSUs.

My Power supplies won't turn on. It's something in the connection where I plug in my power cable but I'm not sure what everything looks perfectly fine. It's not the power supplies themselves they work fine by themselves.

Can you get some better pictures of the inside and outside of the case for the AC power end, maybe we can figure it out.
