Don't worry keep flying her under those rain drops they are water proof. You should fly it when its raining harder its a challenge flying under the water.

I like it A lot ! If it helps you to land her in one piece then it's good.

Question on the B450 landing gear (I think that's what I see in the pic) ... were the holes in the skids too big for the screws to hold them on? I just bought a new 450 skid and the holes are too big ...

I use different screw from the top to bottom (don't over tight because the frame will crack)

Originally they were for landing on snow (thanks 1BLADESHY).

Then I discovered:
  • I could land in grass and not kill the tail rotor blades.
  • I could take off in grass and the skids won't get snagged.
  • They keep the heli from spinning during spool-ups on hard surfaces.
  • They help the heli visually "pop" out from the background of trees when flying in shadows.
  • They help indicate the helis attitude even after the rotor disc becomes invisible.
  • I can see the heli and know it's attitude at much further distances than without them.
  • With two different colors (different color on each skid) the above two discoveries are even more pronounced.
  • They help the heli bounce and stay upright after an emergency auto when the elevator servo fails.
  • They also help when transporting the helis as it's harder for them to smash into each other when they're bouncing around in the back seat
  • They help make videos slightly more interesting as there's something additional to look at when the heli gets far away and turns into a dot.
  • I can put big letters "FR4" on the heli and not have to trash the canopy.
  • People at the field may forget my name and my face, but they always remember the helis with the pontoons "Hey - I remember that heli - you were here last week with those things ..."
  • The helis seem to fly just fine with them - upright and inverted.
They're not long or stiff enough to actually keep the heli afloat, so no water landings without some modifications.

-John

Here's a couple pics of my new Canopies!
Taken with my new Drift 170HD vid camera. It has somewhat of a fisheye lense 170* view, so thats why they look a little funny at the edges. Canomod now has a B400 canopy mold!!! I am not sure, but belive I am one of if not the first to have one, as the person I was talking to didn't even know the factory had the mold untill my order was being started. We changed from a Trex450 to the B400 canopy while my order was in mid production!. Have to ask them, cause I didn't see it online as of last time I looked

These look like microheli gears. If you look close you can almost see the cnc aluminum hubs. If they are they are cnc cut delrin gears that spin without a hint of wobble, and they are perfectly concentric. Been running them for years on mine.
