Default ****OKTOBERFEST****

where: Apache pass air park http://www.flyapachepass.com/
when: Oktober 10/11/12
venue: we will be splitting the field planes on one side and heli's on the other and we are making it one big party. should make for some good times
while the rest of the country is cooling off we are still nice and warm here in central texas. apache pass is roughly 45 minutes northeast of austin tx
we have full hookups(water/sewer/eletricity) for 47 rv's at the end of the flight line. camping is encouraged as we have showers on the property but if camping isnt your thing the city of rockdale is a short 10 minute ride away.
on the property there is an icehouse that serves cold beer and good food we are arranging to have a food vendor there for the event as well. as mentioned before if nothing excites you rockdale is a short 10 minute ride away
a golf cart is also encouraged
here is small video of the field produced by Joe Doran of austin helifest fame
Apache Pass Land (2 min 39 sec)

hope you can join us

I figured I'd bump this thread since the event is coming up next week (October 9th - 12th) and it's got zero traction in this forum since April. If you're in and around central Texas come out and join us. It looks like it's going to be a fun event on a cool site about an hour east of Austin. As I write this there are currently 98 pre-registered pilots, so that should go up over a hundred for the event. Hopefully it will become a new tradition in these parts.

If it hadn't conflicted with the HF FF, I probably would have gone. It sounds like a great facility.

Experience is something you gain only after you need it.
I wouldn't mind social media so much if it didn't involve people.

I used to live in Georgetown and still have some friends around the Hill Country, I'll pass the word. Wish I could go too, sounds like alot of fun! I'll keep it in mind for next year...

It was a fun event. They had two separate flight lines. One for airplanes and one for helis. The airplane line was dominated with tons of 100+ inch gassers which was fun to watch. The heli line was really cool. There were a good number of really good pilots out showing off their skills. They had 5 flight stations each with a perfectly mowed circle surrounding it. I was able to fly out all of my 11 packs throughout the day without much waiting or interference which was nice.

It was definitely impressive for a first run. It was a rainy weekend so it was hella muddy in parts of the field, but the turnout was impressive given the conditions. It was hard to get a gauge of how many people were there since the two flight lines were separate, but certainly there were more than 100 pilots present many of whom stayed on site in campers. It's clear that this could become a HUGE event in years to come.

Thanks to everyone who put this on. I will definitely be back next year.
