Dual port charging at its best. If you only need 6s, two Powerlab6s would be more cost effective as well as smaller.

We need a sticky Gregor! This gets asked 2-3 times a day now! I'll ask a mod to sticky this one that we can fine tune sometime.

This is a common question and here's my suggestions.

I love my current setup... I can charge six 6s4000 packs in 30 mins (or two in 15 mins) using two deep cycles and my PL6. I can get nearly 37A output to 6s packs with the PL6. But I now wish I had gotten the PL8... it could have pulled more out of the deep cycles. (I can get around 15 flights between my 550 and 600 before I need to charge the deep cycles)

When I charge at home (rarely now) I use an iCharger 306b with a 42A feathermerchant PC power supply... at 12V input it gets me around 14A output.

So if you have access to AC or have a generator.. the feather merchant power supplies are GREAT and inexpensive. And if you scroll down on his page you will see that he now sells them bundled and wired up for 24VDC. High watt chargers need 24VDC to get the full output.

IMO get parallel cables and not a balance board.. way easier to manage. With parallel cables (ie squid) you can hook up anywhere from 1 to 6 packs at a time.. even different capacities as long as they are the same cell count . I had a board but tossed it out.. especially since Gens Ace packs have short balance wires.

A smart idea to go to a high output charger.

There really are only 2 brands to choose from.
iCharger and FMA (Cell Pro)

You can spend from $160 to $240 for one of these chargers.

You will need a DC power supply of at least 24V to get the rated power from these chargers.
Converted computer server power supplies are the beat way to go.

With this kind of charging power you really don't need 2 ports.
Most guys that buy these get a parallel board or squid (like Sly uses) to charge as many pack at the same time as you want.
This saves a lot of time.

Who cares if you drink the kool aid? I have several Hyperion duos. They have worked flawlessly for me for several years. Dual ports are nice if you have many different size lipos to charge. If I was to buy a single port and parallel
Charge, I would skip the icharger and get a pl8.

My Power Station...

The chargers are attached to the PS with double face tape and fastened with Velcro (it acts like a hanger as well).

I was trying to be polite.
For as expensive as they are and as many problems I see people having, it is a wonder Hyperion is still in business.

They make excellent batteries and servos, as well as some meters and logging stuff that plank folks like. So its safe to say a few issues with some of their chargers is not going to finish them off.

Just because a few people have posted a problem or two doesn't mean that the vast majority of the Hyperion users out there are not happy. I am going on 4 years use without a hiccup.

It is WAY more than a few people.

But it is great that we have choices.
