Default RJX 50 EP

hi all,

could anyone help me clarify these for me? I am looking forward to buying a motor for my 50EP and was wondering:

a) whats the pinion hole diameter? is that 6mm? (meaning i need to buy a motor with 6 mm shaft?)

b) the pinion sizes that RJX has? Is that 13 teeth and 14 teeth?

thks a lot

cheers

hi Nitroboy
the pinion hole diameter is 6mm, any 4035 scorpion or pyro 700/650 fits into it.
the pinion size is 10t or 12t. you can use 90t, 93t or 100t main-gear. so you can find the perfect setup for you.

it depends on LiPo setup (12s or 10s) which pinion/maingear to use.
  • i use 12s 10t/100t on my 90EP with scorpion 4035-500
  • a buddy flies 10s 12t/93t on his 50EP with scorpion 4035-560.
  • another buddy flies 12s 10t/100t on his 90EP with Pyro 30-12
  • i know an RJX team pilot who flies the new pyro 650 @10s on his 50EP
some guys use scorpion 50xx motors with 440 rpm (on 90EPs).
just make some calculations for the HS you prefer. i think 1700-2200HS should be fine for a 50EP for slow flights and 3D.
4035-560 @ 10t/93t should be a very good setup with lots of power

have fun with your new machine! good choice

thks a lot for the advice..

i am planning to use the align 700MX motor which has a 6mm shaft. The scorpion and pyro ones are more expensive..

i read some good reviews about the Align motor..it should be ok, right?

cheers

whats the kv for your 700mx?
is it 470, 510 or 530?
10s or 12s setup?

510kv@10s@12t/93t should be very good for 50ep

readyheli.com/headspeed-calculator.html

Spoolup with Governor @ 65%: 1944
Spoolup with Governor @ 75%: 2061
Spoolup with Governor @ 85%: 2178
calculated with 10s, 700mx 510kv, 12t/93t, and align esc (governed)

should be fine with your setup!
good choice, 1944rpm for hovering and sports flyings will give you great flight times and smooth flight over all!

the rjx helis are great!
have fun with your build and i'm looking forward to your maiden!

thks a lot..i am actually converting my nitro extreme 50 to electric 50..Just havent had time to do and ran out of funds to buy the parts..

I have spare main gears from the nitro RJX (these are 85 teeth i think)..Does the main gear from the nitro fit the electric one (neglecting the tooth count)?

I calculated that if i use a 510KV motor on a 10 s setup,

main gear teeth (85) and pinion teeth (12)

i get a headspeed of 2264 rpm assuming motor efficiency of about 85%..

If ok, then that should do the work..I dont need to buy the 90-100t maingear.. (i have 2 spare sets from my nitro)

cheers

hi,
sorry for the late statement, just some holidays :-)
85:12 should be also o.k. but i don't know anybody who flies this combo, beacuse it's not popular.

but the math show's that it might be a good setup: http://www.ecalc.ch/helicalc_e.htm?c...1370&pitch=12°
just change the parameters to your exact setup.

maybee 85:12 (7.01:1) isn't as efficient as other setups, or the motor is pulling more amps.. but it should be flightable.
just try it, if you aren't satisfied you can change main-gear (and pinion) later.

Hello,

the 85T nitro gear is NOT good choise for electric. It can not handle the stress from todays high power brushless motors.

Best is going with the 90T,93T or 100T gears.

for 8S setup you can use a 740KV motor 10T/90

Best Regards
Frank

I've been using a scorpion 4035-400KV on 12s.
12T pinion and stock 90T maingear.
Works great and has a much smoother sound then the high pitched 10/100 setups I've seen.
I did have to swap the motorshaft to 6mm though as it came with an 8mm shaft.

hi,

sorry i somehow missed your post..I havent checked the RJX website these few days..

yeah it seems flyable..But it looks like from what Frank says, the gears cannot handle that much stress..so better not risk it then..

i was having some fun flying my align 250 these days..just got one to bash around.quite fun actually

i am not dropping the RJX though..i like it.wish i could just fly a nitro engine around my place..sigh

cheers
