Default Talon 15 and Scorpion HK-2206-3900?

I’ve had the Talon 15 on my Trex 250 for some time now running a 250MX. Everything seems to run fine with the 250MX although it doesn't seem all that crazy in the power department. I'm running 12 deg of pitch because anything more bogs the head and tail to much,

I picked up a Scorpion HK-2206-3900 to see if it was more powerful. Well I’m a bit disappointed because the power is only about 80% of the 250MX. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

I have a YEP18 that I can try but I didn’t do that yet.
Anyone else?

Makes sence to me, that scorpion is rated at 150watts continuous at 14a, where the new align 250mx is 170watts at 16a

Try a 16t pinion on that 250MX to liven it up a bit.

I'll give the 250MX a try with a 16t pinion and see how that goes.

Oh well I might have a spare Scorpion with one flight on it....

Well I gotta say I should of tried the 16t on the 250MX first before purchasing a new motor.
Upped the pitch to 12.5 and turned the Agility up a bit on the kbar and wow what a difference.

16t for me gives the Trex 250 the extra punch that I was looking for. thanks for the tip!

And to think I had this 250 up for sale with the 3gx because I didn't like the way it was flying. Figured I would try the kbar before I sold it and wow what a difference.

man u making me wanna go back to a 16t ... I went back to 15t for the slight extra flight time.

There was a 180watt motor for a time, made by Viper 3600Kv, (they also have a 2s version something like 5xxxxKv), never found any people with one installed and I think it's discontinued ... I have a viper in my RC10 B4.1 and it's a monster in that buggy great quality motor.

+1 The viper motor is reputed to be outrageously powerful. I personally think the scorpion 2206 3900 is very powerful, but I am running 14 degrees of pitch and 5500 rpm. Flies like this vid:
Super Insane T-Rex 250 with 5500 RPM Headspeed (3 min 3 sec)
. The 250 really comes alive with really high headspeed. I haven't used a 250mx, but I would suspect that higher headspeed will help. Bad soldering and old lipos are also big performance killers.

Greets forum,

'Subscribing to this thread with much interest as I've recently purchased a 250 DFC combo with a Talon 15 and the Scorpion 2206-3900kv thinking it would make a diffence both in weight and performance. I got the 16t pinion and intend to run that from the get-go...I've also read in the lightweight 250 thread that it's possible to run this heli without the tail boom supports, saving further weight.
Apologies, I'm not trying to turn this into an alternative lightweight 250 thread but of course with such a small heli weight ultimately affects performance. Once my machine is all built and flown i'll report back.

Cheers
