Default Align 700 Dominator (Esc 120A fale)crach

Just crached my new dominater 700.

Its a shame they deliver a 120A Esc with the Kit

Esc fail just coming out of a fast looping to close to the ground for auto

Defenitly need a 160A to work right with this Engine combo

So if you buy this kit don't use the 120A you will get in to trouble

The Esc its much to small for the new 800 Dominater engine

Set up was done like on the site setup manual governor mode

First flight i did Overheating warning (6 beeps) read out the log 92°C

Second day today i have set the kHz to 8 was on 12Khz to generate less heat

Esc failed its a real shame for a brand like Align to put a 120A in this kit

All depends on settings. High RPM and over 12 degrees on collective can increase currents at least three times.

I fly stretched 700 with 780-810mm blades on YEP 120A without issues. I just do not push it hard. In another 800 I put YEP 180A HV.

2100 rpm and not more than 12° pitch these are my settings

Sorry its sold as a 3D machine if the Esc can't handle this don't put it in a combo, this is my opinion.

Just finished mounting a 160A on it

Exactly. I love align products for what they are but they are meant to be hard 3d capable machines....which means high head speeds and lots of collective range.

I still want one but I will most likely use a different esc.

Hmm, I have the 800MX (I thought the dominator was the 850MX?) and EDGE 120 HV in my 700 Pro. Running 2150 rpm and 12° pitch. ESC ist max 46°C at its hottest spot right after landing. I do run the ESC on the back thuogh so it gets a nice breeze from the blades.

Was your ESC mounted in the plastic tray under the canopy?

I've been using the CC120 with the 800mx in 2 of machines and have many flights on them and they work flawlessly, I've even used the 120 with the 850mx 490 kv and it was able to handle it. I would check your settings because the 120 can more than handle the 800mx.

When Tareq wants to smack Trekker he does not fly stock ESC. He puts $800 Kontronik Kosmik and huge radiator. Motor is also custom:

Szabo smack 700 with 160A ESC.

But this is flight with 120A ESC:
Check 4:30

What happened at 4:30 in the second video? Looks like a normal auto.

The new dominator 800 motor is the same as the 800MX motor.

Yes. Throttle hold at 4:21 at 4:30 you can see closeup of 120A ESC.

There were in the past batches of faulty CC ESCs. Name "Castle Cremations" was used more often than now. CC are relatively cheap ESCs. New CC models seem more reliable.

Heat in the summer can noticably increase motor temperature after flight. I assume the same for ESC.

Better to have headroom and put 160A ESC.

Paradoxically less throttle than 70% can result in excessive heat if ESC does not have "free wheel". On HF you can find threads explaining free wheel feature.

Overloaded internal combustion engine will stop. Overloaded electric motor will short circuit and burn in smoke and flames... or burn ESC first.
