Gens Ace 1C RX packs
Hallo,
for my new nitro hely I am looking for the RX pack. Since I am satisfied with Gens Ace, I searched their shop first. Surprisingly, their RX packs are labelled 1C discharge , which makes 3,5 A only from a 3500 mAh pack. Is this the real limit or just a precaution? http://www.gensace.de/lipo-battery/t...ery-packs.html? My voltage regulator is an Hercules linear BEC. I would like to drain at least 10 A from the RX pack

You misread. It is for the charge rate. Most Rx style LiPo packs are 10-15C discharge.

He read just fine, the discharge rate is also 1C. Those are pretty small wires and tiny servo leads on them, not a great rx pack for a big heli. And why would you use a 2s pack with a BEC ?

If you look at the picture of the pack itself, vs the specs listed on the page, there is a 5C sticker on the pack, on the left. Hopefully the description in the text is simply wrong.
And this listing for a different 3500mAh 2S RX pack, at the US site, lists: Quote:

There is no statement of the discharge rating, while again looking over the pack, and using 20ga wire. What is wrong with that?? I can guarantee that the pack he is questioning, is no less than a 10C discharge. Why would one install a 30,000 mAh Rx pack on a heli, with only a 1C discharge rate?? You wouldn't. The first LiPos I used 15 years ago were minimum of 5C discharge. I totally understand everyone's concern for LiPo usage about over charge and discharge, I really do. But presuming a battery with no discharge rating, at 1C, is bit insane. If the pack in question shows a discharge rating, please feel free to show it. I have looked 2 or 3 times, and I've come up empty handed. I just have a hard time believing that a manufacture would bring out an ultra low discharge rated cell, for Rx use. Tx use, I agree with.
We were lucky to have 22ga wire 25 years ago on batteries and servos. And today, its a bloody crime to use nothing less than a 10ga on a Rx pack. Our servos today, may draw a constant 2A per servo, and under a heavy load, may spike to 5A. But that load is only for a brief moment. My wire size on my Glacier 2600 mAh Rx LiPo is 16ga. It is over kill. I've flown on the standard 20ga JR plug in the same heli without issue. The Rx packs that BuddyRC sells are a 15C discharge, and a 2C charge rate. Pulse Greens are virtually the same, as are Gens Ace. All 3 are coming out of the same factory, just a little different quality cell. However, I do agree with you on the use of the regulator. If the servos are not HV, then why not just use an A123 or a LiFe pack. If the servos are HV, then you are safe in using a 2S LiPo unregulated. If you want a constant, use a CC Pro 20A BEC off the esc, and regulate it to 8.4V, or 8V. Doesn't matter. It will feel the same from the first flight to the last flight. There is always more than 1 way to skin a cat.

it came with 6V standard Align servos and the bec. Thanks for the comments guys. Perhaps I had better to buy a pack with bigger wires. As for the leads I will solder deans.
