Default Should I convert/upgrade my T-Rex 450 se v2?

Hi all!

I'm new to the heli world and recently got my first bird; a used T-Rex 450 se v2 converted to DFC. From what I've learned to understand it's not easy finding spare parts for this particular version any longer. I realize the frame and everything that goes with that is specific to the se v2, but how about other wear and tear parts? Can they be sourced from current versions of the 450? Or would I be better off getting a new body and move the electronics etc to that?

On a side note I've been looking for a new canopy. Are canopies from any of the other versions compatible with the se v2 (perhaps with slight modifications)?

Thank you

I would say to just get new frames etc and move it all over. If your already flying dfc then your servos can handle the load. Now you just need to figure out which frame to go w and figure out the few parts that are different between the two and change those out in the process. You could probably get a bare bones tarot pro v2 kit w all the extras you need for less than 150.

Fly it until you crash it, then upgrade as you go.

Thanks for the tips Seeing how well I fly in RF7 it shouldn't take long until I get to swap it for something new I do have a bunch of spares and I also found an eBay store with se spares in stock so I guess I'll fly it for a while at least. I hope it's not a difficult bird to learn on.

You can find sev2 parts on ebay and the web sites. It may take a lot of searching and the P/Ns in the old sev2 manual don't seem to correlate to anything anymore. My sev2 continues to fly (barless). It's not DFC, so I'm still using mixer arms and the original blade holders. Measure the length of your shaft and then if you need you can replace with anything that length (or real close to it by adjusting links).

Again thank you guys. I'm kinda postponing getting it in the air until spring. Meanwhile I got myself a 180CFX and an mCPX for some indoor flying during the winter (I hope) Been practicing in Real Flight but I have a hard time getting the controller to act how I want. Still much to learn I guess
