Well... I decided to check out the video of the 4F200DQ01 at the Walkera site and... I laughed so hard I cried (after I figured out, the language spoken was... English??!!)

I think the 4F200LM looks really cool, too. I guess I just have a liking for the Lama design. BUT, when I wrote about the 4F200LM on another thread, 60something wrote that the tail rotor on it is a "wire drive" and that's apparently not a good think, especially for a Walkera. I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure 60something really knows his stuff, so it's probably wise to wait on the 4F200LM... let somebody else find out how it works and holds up!

I watched the video of Walkera's other 4F200 new model, the DQ01 and it has a brushless (mounted behind the main rotor) shaft driven tail. Looked like it flew fine, and best I can tell it's not 3D, though it might just be that the demo video didn't happen to demo that ability. Seems like if the 4F200 is 3D, it's offspring would be, too, but I'm not sure. The info on Walkera's site doesn't mention 3D for the DQ01 or 02, so I'm not sure if 4F200 only refers to the "simulated" three blade design. BTW, what the heck do they mean by simulated? They have three blades, so what's simulated about that?

DaveS......
Yeah, if its tail wire, I'll steer clear. Its not a very good system, and given Walkeras off again, on again quality issues. I just need another headache. I'm guessing that again, to keep cost down they went that route...I would have really liked this with a TT.

EDIT::::: Are we sure its a wire tail? Just had another look and I cant tell for sure.

There are many good reputable Walkera online shops... finding one isn't going to be your problem... finding one that will carry the 4F200LM is going to be your challenge. As Walkera insists on having nine million models and variations to choose from, most online stores can't carry every Walkera heli and pick and choose those models that they think will be the most popular.

Blayd,

I'm not sure either. 60something was the one to pick up on it first, and I have to say looking at the pics I've seen so far, the tube to the tail rotor looks awfully small to be a TT, but I can't tell for sure. I'm waiting till I can either see some more pics or Walkera puts out a more complete description. I'm with you, I want one if it's TT, but not if it's a wire.

Dave

Here's a fairly good close-up of the tail. Looks like a locking collar just before the wire (would have to be if it has a locking collar on it, wouldn't it?) goes into the tail transmission box.
