Hi All

How do you attach the tail gear (TT) to the tail rotor shaft? The gear assembly has a 2mm hole through it so I assume the small shaft ~2mm diameter x ~10mm length that came with the kit is used to secure it.

Should I loctite (blue/green) the shaft in place or is there a better way (flat head screw and bolt)?

Im just a bit concerned that if the gear gets stripped during a bad landing/crash then that more money flying out my wallet buying a new tail rotor shaft.

I appreciate any advice you guys can provide.

Dean

Once the shaft is in place, you use a grub screw to secure it. The inner hole of the tail shaft is threaded. I would thread lock everything.

Cheers,
Simon

It's rare but I have witnessed myself the the pin coming out of the gear/shaft. Before fastening it all into the block, stretch a thin piece of heatshrink around it and carefully trim it so it does interfere with the bearings. If you use glue it would just unbalance it.

Hazza is correct please use some heatshrink to insure pin stays in place. Also do not overtighten the grub screw or u risk breaking the pin.

Deanen, I don't suppose you want a spare Comp XE airframe going cheap? Selling mine to fund another project.
