No prob cd...Matt mentioned his shaft didn't go thru the pinion support. He's running the 4525LE. Hopefully, the 40mm shaft on a 4035 will be plenty long, not sure why his wasn't. So that's all I was wondering.

According to that drawing, the motor plate is 8mm, the pinion rests 29mm below that, which leaves 3mm of the 40mm shaft on a 4035 motor, hanging just past the pinion. Let's hope that's enough to meet the pinion support.

Otherwise, what's the point of the pinion support, right? Especially on Matt's setup, using the 4525LE. I'd definitely want pinion support using that motor, even my 4035-560 wants pinion support.

Where's the other (bottom) pinion support? Or is there only one? That's what I was getting at.

Scorpion is making longer shafts for the Pinion support. However it isn't really nessary. I have been flying the 4525 LE for a while now with no issues. I left the pinion support in the model to help keep grease and other debris from getting to the motor/ESC wires.

Here is Matt's Picture showing the motor parts, look at the pinion support, the bearing is open for the tip of the shaft to come through, it's just not hollow so the shaft can pass through the support and hang out the bottom.

Here is the Motor/Pinion Setup from the manual:

The manual calls for some of the shaft to hang below the pinion to rest in the inner race of the bearing.

If I miss understood the question, I apologize.

The 4525 motor shaft simply isn't long enough to go down through the lower pinion support. Maybe the 4035 motor shaft is longer, I don't know. The Gaui team guys are running the 4525. Another thing you have to consider is the thickness of the main gear. The main gear is about at thick as the pinion is long. I don't see any way to strip this gear with a proper mesh and 12s power system.

Also, keep in mind the gear is Mod 1.2! I put some images on the first page of the the Align Mod 1, 12t pinion next to the Mod 1.2, 12t pinion. The difference is very distinct.

Good info guys. I'm sure it will be just fine either way.

I think Slyster was pointing out more side-load on just the 2 motor bearings.

I guess I was the one who misunderstood, i though Matt was stating that the shaft CAN'T go through the pinion support, I missed the part about his shaft just not being long enough.

I am with CS and Slyster, If scorpion makes a longer shaft, i would probably use it, just to help with the load.

Here are some wiring pics. Not quite done but very close. There are lots of paths for wiring on the X7. I'll be able to hide almost every wire!

I'm working on setting up the VBar and the final wiring. Got a lot extra going on at work so I only have a few hours at night to work on this. Going through the VBar setup, this is the easiest setup I've done. Aside from servo trim, I was able to get everything set up perfectly mechanically, without having to fine adjust in the VBar settings.

I just ordered mine, but not sure which esc and bec (or battery) to run.

I'm not really wanting to run castle on this given all of the fires I've seen on youtube, so I was thinking about scorpion commander 130A. Should I use the built in SBEC version or get an external BEC like the western? I'm not really wanting another battery to charge if I can help it, but I'm willing to entertain the 2s lipo option if that is proven to be the best solution.

Matt's running the commander with built in SBEC, plenty of power.

what helicopter can the X7 be compared to as far as size? Is it a small 700 like the T rex or large like the Rave or somwhere in the middle?

It's longer than the Align 700 from main shaft to end of the tail case about an inch by the looks of it (haven't measured yet).

Wow, Matt you are right, I just got the X7 Pinions in and they are something to behold. HUGE! Bigger than I thought they would be.. makes the 700E pinions look like 500E pinions. Should not be stripping with these babies..
