Default Hovering help normal to inverted transitions

Hey Everyone,

Working through from tail in through 8's. I'm currently stuck after learning inverted hover. When working through session, slow piro's, if I stay inverted hover, I can nail it, but if I transition back to right side up, slow piro's, I can't seem to get it right. Same thing happens if I start normal slow piro hover and transition to inverted.

So far I've tried to use a few tricks mention on HF, the tail reference, when inverted but after the transition, flying the disc.

Anyone have any ideas for me?

Default Alternate

Keep alternating between inverted and right side up... It takes time, before you know it, it'll be second nature. I struggled with this too. If I practiced inverted hovering non-stop, I would lose orientation in normal flight but after a while, it just becomes second nature regardless of your orientation. All I can say is make sure you give both orientations equal training time. Good luck!

Just practice.

You have to learn both and keep alternating. Eventually this transition also becomes automatic.

In short, for you, at this stage, both upright orientations and inverted orientations are "conscious competence". Once they slowly become "unconscious competence",(which occurs with practice), this transition will just happen "automagically".

OP,
I am sure most of us go through that to some degree. And when you get that sorted you find the next thing that you can't do.

That is a great program but I found that it is possible to focus too much on one thing. I got stuck on trying to get to the small Heli-x circle inverted and neglected other stuff due to limited sim time. Once I decided that piroing the medium circle (including flips) was OK for now I was free to go and practice the other stuff. This is when the slow piros began to pay off.

Great thing about the program is its stickied forever so don't sweat it.

Do people really practice slow piros in the small Heli-x circle inverted with a decent head speed.?

I do. (TRex 700DFC - 100% throttle / 100DR - 20expo - start off upright and roll to inverted).

I do this about once every 2 weeks to keep hand in.

Oh no. Now I gotta try again.

Seriously though, I practice my aeleron and elev flips in the medium circle at different points of the compass and rarely crash. The program is brilliant. I was not too terrible at the small circle inverted but the stress practicing was killing me.
