Default JST-PH Parallel charging/balancing

I just came across some feedback on Icharger forum. Parallel charging JST-PH (UMX / Blade 130x) lipos ( 2s 300 to 450 mah) doesn't correctly balance. I am looking to get battery charger and to charge these small 2s lipos.

Not sure if this is problem with JST-PH since its single cabling that charge/balance vs the 3s.

I was looking at getting i106B or 206B.
Anyone had any issues with JST-PH parallel chaging and recommended charger?

What is this information you speak of? I regularly parallel charge my 130x packs with my Powerlab and have no issues. At least with the batteries. 130x reliability is another story. But I digress.

I connected three 600 mAh to a parallel charging harness and the wires started to burn before even connecting the other end to a battery charger.
Harness and battery charging ends burned out (see pictures).
What could have been the reason???

  • Plug inserted backwards
  • Battery plug wired backwards
  • One or more cables in the charging harness shorted or wired backwards
  • If the main leads were also connected, they could be connected or wired reverse
This is the reason to use fused parallel boards.

Oh, I see what you mean. The 130x connector is doing double duty as the main discharge lead and the balance lead. This can lead to wear on the two outside connectors. Cleaning with products like Deoxit can help. But this is not a parallel charging issue. The same issues would occur if you charged separately. However when charging in parallel it would be harder to detect when the condition occurred. This is true for packs of all sizes charged in parallel.

FWIW I haven't seen this issue in my mCPX and my 130x, both models were pre-ordered from the first batch so that gives you some idea how long I have been flying them. I will note that the connector on my mCPX has been replaced twice. Once because the wire broke off and I had some spare connectors so In just refreshed it. The second time was the convert to BL.
