Weird MSRX servo behavior - need help
This question pertains to a MSRX that has been operating properly for more than 300 flights. But it has been very difficult to fly the last five or six flights.
Today I turned on the DX6i and plugged the battery into the MSRX and the aileron servo locked up in the full right aileron position. I managed to get it off full defection by unplugging and plugging in the battery and or rebinding several times. The elevator servo may have been at full deflection also, just noticed the aileron servo and knew there was a problem. The problem now is servo operation. If no power is applied to the main motor, both servos follow the transmitter stick action properly. If any amount of main motor throttle is applied both servos hang up at either end of their travel. Moving the stick in the opposite direction will move the servos in the correction direction but at a rate slower than the transmitter stick is moving to the new location. If I unplug the main motor and do not apply any throttle the servos operate properly. If I apply throttle, even with the main motor unplugged from the mother board the servos hang up at the end points and again do not follow the rate movement of the transmitter stick. I have replaced the main motor, tail motor and verified the batteries are fully charged. Both servos were deoxed approximately 30 flights ago. Does this sound like a mother board issue? Help is appreciated. |

My first guess, mind you I say guess, would be that the servos are wearing out.

I wonder if the motor is pulling too much power or the lipo is in need of replacement.
I would also consider cleaning the servos if that hasn't been done yet. There are lots of post and youtube videos on cleaning linear servos with Isoprophil alcohol or Deoxit D5. Deoxit is the best option as a cleaner. |
