Head upgrade?
Are there any third party upgraded heads that will fit the MX450? I realize I have the "upgraded" aluminum head, but I'd like to find one that's a little better / less sloppy, and possibly not red for a scale project I'm planning.
Would any of the T-rex heads fit with modifications?

My understanding is that the T-rex heads will fit. You will need everything above the swash plate, I think you can use the MX400 swash.

the MX main shafts are alittle bit thicker then the Trex main shafts though....might be a slight problem

Actually, I just checked the shaft diameters between my MX and my 450V2 and they both measure 5.00mm. I'm wondering if the length is the same though and short of yanking the heads out of both, I'm not sure. I'm out of spares at the moment
The span across the swash balls is a bit different, and the whole point of this exercise would be to ditch the MX swash too. It's the cause of half my slop as it is, plus I want to get rid of the aluminum balls on the elevator and pitch links. I might just go ahead and buy a new head (maybe a heliwarehouse one to keep the $$ down) and see if I can fit it. At the very least, I'll have a spare for my 'Rex.

if it's the red color your worried about, get yourself some "greased lightning" or some "easy off" and that red anodizing will wipe right off. then you can polish that aluminum to a high shine.

I'm using t-rex main shafts in my MX's.. I do have one that I was flying with a micro-heli trex head also, but I've put it back to stock awaiting the arrival of my t-rex tomorrow.. I think the main shaft is upside down though when it works, the "align" is inside the chassis.. |
