Question Hawk Pro Electric Conversion 2015

Decided to switch to electric. Will post pictures soon. If anyone wants a good OS 37, let me know. Will post parts for sale as soon as I get pics taken.

What motor are you planing to use. If memory serves, the pinions that come with the conversion are for motors with 5mm mainshafts and the bolt spacing is for attaching it to the mount is 25mm. Some motors only have 25mm spacing, some have both 25mm & 30mm spacing while others only have 30mm spacing. So be sure to verify these specs with whatever motor you are planing to use.

Well.......The conversion is going well so far. Did a spool up test. All was well, but it caused a brown out on my Spektrum Receiver. Now we are waiting for a BEC.

As long as the brown out was on your Spectrum and not your shorts, all should be OK.

LOL, Yep. after the ESC armed I switched the throttle hold on. the quick move of all the cyclic servos caused the Spektrum led to start blinking. Tried it again with my telemetry screen up, the 6.5 volts from the internal BEC dropped to 3 volts. No worries, found 2 CC BEC Pros for sale.

I do have a question. Should I connect my BEC pro to the 4 cell drive battery, or run a separate battery for the radio gear?? I have a few Eflight 3 cell 1000 Ahr left over from my Blade SR. would thos be big enough??

What 4S pack are you using (Mah/C rating)?

I would use the CC beck from your 4S pack if it has a high enough MAH and C rating.

I trust you have seen this guide relative head speed matching motor KV to Battery cells etc.

http://www.centuryheli.com/products/...tricsetup.html

If you have a Castle Creations BEC Pro, I would just use it off of the main power battery.

What type of flying are you planing to do?

Yes, that's the chart I have been using. I found a 1470 Century motor on Ebay. The only thing wrong with that chart is it lists head speeds with my motor on 5 cells. But the motor documents say 4 cell max. Thats why I'm running 4 cells. I just changed it from the 19 tooth back to the clutch. I like it. It has a more scale looking start up. I am still learning to fly. I fly planes for many years. I am just working on sloppy forward flight right now. I was going to program the CC Edge ESC I'm using for set speed gov. What head speeds do you recommend for no 3D flying?? I am currently running the wood blades. I have a set of CF blades I'm planning to switch to when I get better. Most of my flying has been on a Blade 400. Thanks for all you help.

A head speed of 1600 makes the Hawk Pro a relatively gentle yet precise flyer.
