Which head, Floating or solid? which blades?
Hey guys, I am stepping up my MD500 build (450 size). I ordered a ZYX-S FBL and now I am thinking about either getting the floating 4-Blade head from copter X or a regular solid 4-blade head from hobbyking or something.
I am also curious about what blades to get. I want to use the scale plastic blades but are those too flexible for the floating head? in that case, whats recommended for Floating head : Flexible plastic blades or stiff carbon fiber. Same question for solid head. Thanks Here is a teaser pic She was a bright yellow "Breitling" theme before I fixed that with a little matte black primer. The wind screen had cracked so I removed it with my Dremel. I think now with them gone I am going to take it "Mad Max" style by adding some copper or some metal type mesh instead of the regular windscreen. Should be interesting.

The floating head is designed to be used with rigid blades and the rigid head with the flexible blades. Since you are planning on using a FBL controller you can run which ever blades you like on either head; although you may find the floating head slugish with the scale plastic blades. That being said I plan on using the floating CopterX head for the 500 with the plastic blades and a CopterX Cx-3x1000 gyro for an EC-145 that should get started this winter.

I ordered the rigid head 4-blade head from HobbyKing. I hope that it's a good
piece and doesn't come apart, or is to difficult to track. With that I ordered their flexible plastic "blackhawk" style (sound deadening ends) That was for the design ideas. Im going to make this look like it could of been used in the movie "Mad Max". Instead of the normal windshield I am going to use some brass or copper mesh.
