Default Help Please! My BEC Voltage is dropping to 3.0V

Fellow fliers, I need some help, I just installed a CC Edge Lite 50 on my Trex 450L dominator and took it for a flight. I have my BEC voltage set to 7.4v. The problem is it dips down to 3.0v during pitch pumps. It returns back to normal voltage but will dip every pitch pump. I'm surprised my receiver didn't cut off. Everything seems to be programmed right. Everything is stock except for the ESC.

I also tested the BEC on the bench with no RPM, I moved the servos as fast as i could for a long while and there was hardly any drop in voltage. It only happens while in flight.

Setup:
CC Edge Lite 50 ESC
460MX 1800kv motor
DS450 Cyclic servos
DS455 Tail Servo
Pulse 6S 1250mah battery
Head at 3100rpm
+/- 12 degrees

The Edge 50 bec is known to be marginal (5a peak) on this size of heli, for some guys it works and some it does not. You can try adding in a capacitor to smooth the voltage drop. Other option is external bec like CC 10a or the new CC bec 2.0.

Or a different esc with a better bec.

Yeap, the internal bec is not up to the task.

On my Trex 500 i had the CC 10A bec and it worked like a champ.

Thanks for the responses. I'm planning on changing my cyclic servos over to the KST DS215MG and heard they are power hungry. Would the talon 35 handle them? I'm not completely against going with an external BEC but would like to avoid it if possible.

Should be fine, even the Talon 25 has a better bec than Edge 50. But no logging on Talons.

I just got off the phone with Castle Creations, They stated that I'm exceeding the capabilities of the Edge Lite's BEC. He said the Talon 35's BEC is rated almost twice as much as the Edge's.

He also stated they are looking into creating a Talon 50 or 55, as there's a large gap in that series. Which would be cool.

I guess I'll return this ESC and go with the Talon 35. I can do without the data logging. I also don't think I'll have any issues with the amperage on the Talon, The data log shows I only pulled 29.4 Amps at the Max, and that's doing Piro Pitch Pumps. Thanks for all the help and I'll let everyone know how it turns out with the Talon and KST Servos once I get them installed. I have Telemetry on it so I'll still be able to see receiver voltage.
