Angry GPro and JR DMSS

Hi Everyone,

I'm building a Trex 450L with a GPro FBL system. My transmitter is a JR XG8 which is a DMSS system. I read somewhere that I would be able to use the Align RJ01 (originally made for the Trex 150 I think) satellites plugged directly into the GPro. I seem to get them to bind ok (lights stop flashing and go solid) but there seems to be no communication with the servos or esc at all. It's doing my head in now Does any one have any experience of this and could perhaps point me in the right direction. I'm really loathe to install a full DMSS receiver (like the JR RG831B) because there isn't much space on the 450 to put it.

Thanks in anticipation

Duncan

I also just finished assembling my 450L 6S... using the same Gpro & installed them with Spektrum DSMX Sats. It has binded well but still have to test the setup... hope all goes well . do post incase you could find out the problem. Thanks!

I too would love to know the secret behind using the RJ01 DMSS Sat with the Gpro. I'm at the same stage as you, I've successfully got the Sat bind to work but there is no input from the TX shown in the software. Surely someone has the answer to this.
Align don't seem to mention how to do it with DMSS at all, even though it is an option in their software. Pretty slack.

meherenow7 did you try searching it on youtube?
Its really strange why is it happening this way... Hope mine does not give the same problem. Will be completing the setup by tomorrow & update you'll if i'm also facing the same issue. Though i'm using a Spektrum DX18 with DSMX Sats.

Cool

The problem definitely seems to be DMSS. I think you are going to be fine with the Spektrum and DSMX Sats. I've seen those work. I have searched everywhere and canvassed all my local hobby shops including the place I bought the help from and no-one seems to have the answer! I'm at my wits end on this now. Thinking about either changing TX (which would be a shame as I learnt to fly on a JR system) or the FBL. Will keep fiddling for a bit but live in eternal hope that someone in helifreak land will crack it soon and share the solution

There are no videos or tutorials on the internet that i've found for Binding and setting up the Gpro with a DMSS Satellite.
I've only got 1 RJ01 Sat and i've tried it in both ports. I don't think you need more than 1 for it to work, as the video i've watched setting up with a DSM sat they only use 1.
Perhaps i'll try emailing Align and see if I can get any info from them.
Thanks.
Mat.

Last night I tested the GPro with a DMSS Xbus receiver. Worked first go with no dramas.

Looks like the DMSS Sat option is out the window unfortunately!

Guys finally completed the GPro setup with DSMX with my Spektrum DX18 & she behaved Perfectly!
I spooled her in hand and she was fine. Tomorrow would be the test flight.. quite tensed about it … hope all goes well. Will keep you guys posted on the test flight.

Also I had heard that it’s better to have 3 baring’s for the torque tube, currently I have only one on it which came with the kit… what do you guys think about that?
As I was feeling very slight that there was a little vibration on the tail.. but not sure if that’s what was causing it or it normal. Will know more clearly when I left her up into the air.

Sorry bjackson1206 I'm also not sure... still tuning my 450L.

Guys, I finally did the test flight and she flew well, but there is a issue now . She is hovering well & when I give left ruder the tail is holding perfectly, but when i give right rudder the tail just bounces back... wonder why is she doing that. Please guys need urgent help on how to sort out this issue.

Align really needs to wake up and see the issues people are facing with their gyros. I've experienced both Gpro & 3GX and faced issues with both. Literally had to throw the 3GX into the dustbin and might have to do the same with Gpro if this issue is not got sorted out.

Has anyone managed to solve the DMSS binding issue? I'm looking to buy a RJ01 receiver to use with my 450 Dominator and don't want to buy one if its a waste of money.

Cheers,

SLL

I found this post on another site. Hopefully it may help with the DMSS binding issue? I have the opportunity to buy a few for a cheap price so I'm going to take the gamble and see how I go.

Cheers

SLL

--------

RJ01 working w/ align 3gx
With the latest firmware update from align I was able to bind the align DMSS receiver.
1 oddity is that I have to let the heli boot first wait for 5 blinks from the receiver before powering up TX.
All works fine.
If I boot the radio before heli the 3gx is confused.
No idea why, but does work and has good range on my 450.

Try this -- in your Transmitter System menu, locate the X.Bus setup screen.

First -- Set the X.bus function to INH, for inhibit. See what happens.

Second, if that doesn't work, set the X.bus to MODE.A. See what happens.

Third, try MODE.B.

Report back your findings, please.

Set your Transmitter to use X.bus MODE.A. Enjoy.

Word received from Align today via email says to use MODE B. Also, the RJ01 is a limited range, park flyer receiver. Be careful out there.

Default GPro with JR RG731BX--power to Rx??

Can you use the JR 731BX Receiver, XBus, with a GPro??

The GPro is connecting to my Laptop, have my Receiver previously bound to my Transmitter, and when I select JR XBus in the First Menu of GPro Interface, there is no power to the Receiver--do you have to plug a separate battery into the Receiver in addition to the ESC powering the GPro??

Thanks.

No. Power from the ESC should be sufficient as the ESC is plugged into the GPro. In which mode do you have the TX/RX set to operate?

I've also tried to plug in the Receiver "Conventionally" and still get no power to it from the GPro
